Stayed 2 nights Feb. 7 & 8 on first time trip to Buenos Aires. Took bus into city from EZE and walked to hotel from station. Hotel is in great location for walking everywhere. Staff are all friendly and helpful, the pool was refreshing after exploring the city. Wear good shoes because sidewalks are in disrepair. Our room was on... More

I arrived with the coach party late at night. Being the first off and keen to get to my bed. I mounted the steps expecting to walk through what I though was glass door. Ouch! There was NO door there! I was knocked out and an ambulance was fetched. I was patched up[ and sent to bed. The whole front... More

The hotel had a great location in the city, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet had very few selections and was in a small room with no windows. The furnishings were all older and the carpet was worn. We were close to many restaurants and were able to take walking tours.

You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's in City Center, just a couple of blocks from a big shopping district, Florida Ave., different restaurants and walking distance to several tourist sites. We walked from the Opera house back to the hotel one afternoon! Maipu is kind of dimly lit at night but we did not feel threatened at... More

This continues to be my favorite hotel in Buenos Aires. I like the location in the Plaza San Martin area; it's convenient to many good restaurants, shopping, walking distance to many sites in Retiro, city center, and Recoleta. The hotel is attractive and modern, and staff is friendly and accommodating. They even arranged for us to attend a national soccer... More

Situated in a Maipu street, hotel Elevage did not impress us at all. Our bath was litteraly leaking and the provisions in the room and in the breakfast corner were oldfashioned. Luckilly the hotel was clean and close to the city center.

The best part of the location of this hotel is that it is within walking distance of a lot of Buenos Aires. A park is just down the street and Florida Avenue shopping is two blocks away. The breakfast included with the room is very nice. The dining room is nice. Closeness to a lot of things is the nice... More

Elevage was the first hotel on our honeymoon! The hotel is well located very close to a lot of restaurants and shopping centre (not that we bought anything from there more expensive than the uk!) The hotel itself was nice, clean, the hotel room was a decent size. The restaurant where they serve breakfast is a little run down and... More

This hotel was one of 3 selected by Air NZ for the All Blacks tour 2012, The Concierge exchanged some currency to Argentinian pesos for a good rate on the first night to give us some local money, she and all desk staff spoke very good English. The bar downstairs was a good congregating area for a Quilmes or 3.... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
