Gran Hotel Argentino in Buenos Aires is located on Avenidad 9 de Julio. The hotel was easy to find, being situated on the main thoroughfare. The avenue is really wide and tree-lined, making it a perfect one for a long walk. The hotel is within walking distance from some of the main landmarks of BA, namely Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada (presidential palace), Teatro Colon and the iconic Obelisco are within walking distance. There are several food joints nearby. All said and done, the hotel is in a good locality. I had chosen a single room and it was really small but clean. I needed to catch a flight at 5 AM and the receptionist arranged for a taxi. For a night, the hotel is really convenient.
This hotel is old and worn down. It’s worth nothing I booked a small budget twin room, the larger rooms could be nicer? The hotel was noisy, the paint was peeling, the room was very small, but the price was right. I arrived around 11am and was looking for a place to crash for a little bit for a 12 hour layover that would let me explore the city. The front desk checked me in right away with no questions asked which was great. However the front desk was staffed by someone who didn’t speak great English, so certainly not really a bilingual hotel and not sure I could have gotten a lot of help had I needed it. The hotel was cheap at 48 usd so it served what I wanted. I would definitely think of this hotel more as a 2 star motel than a 3 star hotel. Had more hostel like vibes than a hotel. Fine for a long layover like I had but I wouldn’t stay for an extended vacation unless you get a good deal and you’re on a tight budget. Location is great, close to tourist attractions and walking distance. You have to walk a bit to get to the famous pink building in the current TA cover photo so that is a bit misleading. Easy to flag a taxi outside the hotel which was a plus.…
I spent one night at this hotel in April of this year. For the price that I was asked to pay-$124 U.S.-I had high expectations. They were not realized. The room was very small with little space to move around.A bad smell emanated from the bathroom via the bathroom window with the result that the bathroom door had to be kept shut while I slept. This made the bedroom very stuffy.....No breakfast was served, the excuse being that this was to minimise the spread of Covid 19.With social distancing measures in place in the dining room surely this could have been circumvented?...Check-in was slow with a number of people waiting to be dealt with in the small reception area....No concern about Covid 19 there...The staff were ok,'though not particularly welcoming....On the plus side one staff member was kind and helpful when ordering me a taxi on the morning of departure....A disappointing-and expensive-experience...I cannot recommend the place.…
Located in the city centre (10 minutes from the obelisk) it is a hotel that clearly have seen better times. Dated, poor housekeeping (found a use towel behind the bed when trying to use the socket) and except one of the night receptionist, the morning team seem quite serious and unapproachable. The room itself is not bad and the water pressure and temperature are great.
Great location , very good value, super clean. Had a “junior suite” and nothing to complain about, UNTIL: After first day room was not cleaned and when inquired I was told the price did not include that service but could be added for an extra USD 12per day increasing the room price by 33 % ! Wrote to agoda.com and was assured that cleaning was included. What trick costing the hotel 2 stars.
Perfectly located for seeing the city but the hotel was awful. Rooms were stuffy and dark. Very loud noises from the hallway. COCKROACHES, regularly runs out of hot water, felt like I was sleeping on a camping cot, complimentary breakfast was cold if there was even food available at all. I don't have high standards but I was seriously sleeved by this place and considered switching hotels - in fact I would have if I was there on my own dime.
My stay was not what I hoped. Pros -walking distance to Obelisco, Casa Rosada, shopping, food, public transportation -rooms were warm, decent Wi-Fi Cons -we were there 3 nights and the NEVER cleaned our rooms or offered supplies. We ran out of toilet paper and everything. -we were initially told by reception that we had breakfast so we go and eat. After were done they tell us we actually don't and were asking we pay 350 pesos each. Breakfast consisted of some cereals, pastries and coffee, tea, eggs. Ended up paying a little less but still made us pay. To be fair, I did check later the booking and it did not include breakfast but since front desk staff told us we did, I assumed we did. We left to a different hotel (because we ended up staying extra days in BA) and next day, front desk staff asked if we needed towels, service etc.…
I spent my vacation in Buenos Aires with this hotel. Location is perfect it is in center. Hotel is very friendly... Clean... I'll be back, guys. Thanks. It was great. All city tours you recommend was awesome.
Hotel is very well located on the main avenue near the playa del mayo and the obelisk. Reception not very impressive. Brush up you Spanish, limited English is spoken. Room is stuffy and dark, there is a window but you can shake hands with the neighbors. The bed is good and clean. The other part of the room was far from clean. It has been a while that the room has seen a vacuum cleaner. It took some time to remove the cobwebs!. There is a tv and a safety deposit box. The bathroom is outdated. You will find a hairdryer! Shower head hardly gives enough water to have a comfortable shower. The breakfast is on the 7th floor in a canteen styled room. Basic food with good croissants. The other food is not very impressive. Staff is ignorant in cleaning up. In short : great location, you have to take the disadvantages for granted. Score : light 3…
This hotel was nothing particularly special, but the people running it were very helpful and nice, which made our stay enjoyable enough for the three days spend in Buenos Aires. The lift of the hotel was a bit slow and questionable and the room did little to block out noise from outside, but it was situated perfectly in the city for visiting shops for food, shopping, attractions, and groceries. A few more touch ups and this place would be much more popular.
