This hotel is old and worn down. It’s worth nothing I booked a small budget twin room, the larger rooms could be nicer? The hotel was noisy, the paint was peeling, the room was very small, but the price was right. I arrived around 11am and was looking for a place to crash for a little bit for a 12 hour layover that would let me explore the city. The front desk checked me in right away with no questions asked which was great. However the front desk was staffed by someone who didn’t speak great English, so certainly not really a bilingual hotel and not sure I could have gotten a lot of help had I needed it. The hotel was cheap at 48 usd so it served what I wanted. I would definitely think of this hotel more as a 2 star motel than a 3 star hotel. Had more hostel like vibes than a hotel. Fine for a long layover like I had but I wouldn’t stay for an extended vacation unless you get a good deal and you’re on a tight budget. Location is great, close to tourist attractions and walking distance. You have to walk a bit to get to the famous pink building in the current TA cover photo so that is a bit misleading. Easy to flag a taxi outside the hotel which was a plus.

Located in the city centre (10 minutes from the obelisk) it is a hotel that clearly have seen better times. Dated, poor housekeeping (found a use towel behind the bed when trying to use the socket) and except one of the night receptionist, the morning team seem quite serious and unapproachable. The room itself is not bad and the water pressure and temperature are great.

Gran Hotel Argentino in Buenos Aires is located on Avenidad 9 de Julio. The hotel was easy to find, being situated on the main thoroughfare. The avenue is really wide and tree-lined, making it a perfect one for a long walk. The hotel is within walking distance from some of the main landmarks of BA, namely Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada (presidential palace), Teatro Colon and the iconic Obelisco are within walking distance. There are several food joints nearby. All said and done, the hotel is in a good locality. I had chosen a single room and it was really small but clean. I needed to catch a flight at 5 AM and the receptionist arranged for a taxi. For a night, the hotel is really convenient.

Great location , very good value, super clean. Had a “junior suite” and nothing to complain about, UNTIL: After first day room was not cleaned and when inquired I was told the price did not include that service but could be added for an extra USD 12per day increasing the room price by 33 % !
Wrote to agoda.com and was assured that cleaning was included. What trick costing the hotel 2 stars.

We had the bad luck to stay at this hotel in August 2023. Mainly because of the attention we received. There was this bald employee, I think his last name was Monti or something like that. He treated us in a very rude manner and when it came time to charge us he insisted on doing it in cash. I'm almost sure that he scammed us to keep some of the money. This hotel should put honest and educated people to deal with customers. People like this guy should be fired. Horrible experience!

This is a decent option in a good location that is central for everything on the main 9 of Julio Ave. A good option for a moderate priced hotel.
I had a triple on the top floor. The air worked great in a very hot season of the year. The windows had pull down blinds to block light, heat and noise, although from the top floor this is almost no noise. Some hotels when you are on lower levels street noise is a big problem.
The hotel has free internet, one computer only, in the breakfast area.
The breakfast area can be a bit cramped, as occupancy in all hotels is high nowdays. There is a grocery store the next block, many places to eat nearby. I found everything needed nearby.
I make my ratings on value received for money paid, not on luxury only regardless of price. So in this regard I rate it 4 star and I would stay there again. Notice the spiral staircase when you look down from the breakfast floor.

I stayed in this hotel for one night on January 1st. I booked in on Expedia for around 35 dollars a night USD. I was not expecting much. The hotel is centrally located on Pelligrini which is essentially the same as 9 del Julio. You are with a couple of blocks of the Obelisk and Corrientes Street. Just a block more and you are at Lavalle. The hotel has a modest lobby. The desk staff spoke very good English and that was very helpful. They did not have a record of my reservation which was a bit disturbing but when I showed them my confirmation there was no problem. Check in was quick. The elevator is small and limited to 3 people. It has a weight alarm so if you go over a certain weight it won't move. The hotel is old and a bit worn but clean. My room looked like something out of the 50's but again it was clean. The place smelled a little funky like an old hotel but not too bad. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioner worked well and kept the room cool. The bathroom was good. Nice water pressure. Good hot water. The door seemed secure. I passed on the breakfast and ate in a cafe in the city. There is a parking lot associated with the hotel if you are stupid enough to bring a car into the city. Check out was no problem and the desk with another english speaking clerk gave me good directions to the autopista heading toward Mar del Plata. All in all this hotel was not bad if you are not too fancy and want to save money. Very central. If you are fussy go elsewhere. Good basic hotel.

We didn't intend to stay at the Gran Argentino, but it was about the only hotel left. Despite this, we were pleased with it - the location is incredibly convenient and the room was quite good value. The hotel feels straight out of the 1940's, with a spiral staircase and a tiny elevator. There is also a restaurant (with free but somewhat strange breakfast) on the 6th? floor. Downsides: if you like American-style hotels, this is not the place. Some of the reception staff spoke English, most did not. The rooms can be dark, and a call downstairs is needed to turn on the air conditioning. Also, there is a LOT of noise from the street outside because of traffic and apparently frequent demonstrations. If you can put up with a few quirks, it is a good choice. We would stay here again.
