Detailed Reviews
+1
Hostelmo has a fantastic location, close to shops, sights and the city centre. It is positioned on a quiet road and the building from the outside is classic BA with almost European style architecture and a lovely balcony with flowers on.
Through the door you enter into reception where the team are friendly, helpful and patient with our lack of Spanish. The interior is beautifully decorated and painted giving the hostel a unique feel and gives you a real sense of being a backpacker.
After checking in we were shown up to our room. The room was very small but had a double bed, two small wardrobes and enough space for two people to move around. The room didn’t have any windows so it did get quite stuffy and warm but each room had a fan which worked very well and we kept on throughout the night (this was ok for two heavy sleepers but was quite loud so might be a bit difficult for others).
The bed was pretty rough. A bottom sheet, top sheet, blanket and two pillows are provided but it didn’t seem very clean and everything was very old and needed replacing. The pillows were actually just some sort of foam pad with a pillow case which wasn’t uncomfortable but was pretty flat and the foam looked very dirty and unhygienic.
The bathrooms were awful. On the corridor there were about five bathrooms. Each one was an individual water closet with a sink, toilet, bidet and shower head. The shower Is not an enclosed area which meant that the entire bathroom was soaking wet all the time and the there was always lots of hair on the floor. It was quite an unpleasant experience having to dry off the toilet with toilet paper every time before sitting on it and the smell was very unpleasant, along with general bathroom lack of hygiene.
There seemed to be some sort of very basic kitchen amenity next to the bathrooms but we didn’t use this and given the state of the bathrooms i wouldn’t be confident to. There didn’t seem to be much of a communal / backpacking community and the hotel didn’t seem to provide any entertainment or culture which wasn’t a problem as we were just passing through en route elsewhere.
Overall I’ve given this place a 3/5 it was so cheap ($17,000 Argentinian pesos for a couple for one night) so it was decent value but you definitely get what you pay for in the cleanliness and general comfort. A good place to lay your head for the night on a budget but not somewhere I’d stay any longer than that.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying a bit more for an en-suite - especially if you want to use a shower.

I want to thank all the staff for their attention and willingness to help and recommend where to go to eat or walk, they make you feel at home. Beautiful building in a historic neighborhood, close to all parts of the capital. The room was super comfortable and quiet, coffee and tea service 24 hours a day. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a nice place to stay

Very good place, close to everything with super friendly staff who help you with everything. The rooms with bathrooms are super good, but the shared bathrooms could improve a touch. It has a nice terrace and public access to the balconies, in front they have parking.

Mediocre y pobre lugar. El peor hostel de Buenos Aires.
