we can recommend this hostel for everyone: staff helpful , room are tidy (they clean room everyday) big and varied breakfast good location for sightseeing but not during the night time, the area has a own argentinian aura but it's not really safe in any case you should choose this hostel!

A clean and friendly place, good value, free internet. Breakfast was quite good, with a lot of choice, even if wasn't every day. Great location, close to everything, lot of restaurants and bars around. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, English and French speaking. I stayed twice last year, it was a very pleasant time.

Great location in a trendy area close to the centre and the port area. We enjoyed the local restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is quirky with statues of various people loitering around and colourful walls and paintings. The staff are incredibly helpful and patient, advising and helping us on numerous occasions. The price is excellent especially if you pay... More

The location is the best. Certainly not a ritzy street but we ate at the local restaurants which were cheap and cheerful, shoppped at the local convenience store and really didn't feel unsafe at all. Withing walking distance of many of the sights, main shopping plazas and the tourist pick up and drop off points. The staff were very helpful,... More

Despite the neighbourhood is a little bit dirty with narrow streets, you feel safe and it is within walking distance to the busy streets and tourist points. I spent the first two nights there and got another night before I left South America. The staff are very nice and helpful and its good to have laundry machine there! Breakfast is... More

I stayed at Ayres and Tango Suites on two different occations. I felt at home the moment I entered the hotel. I felt safe and well looked after by the very serviceminded staff. The area might seem run down, but I alsays felt safe. The rooms are all about tango with great paintings. Nice breakfast with the ever friendly staff!... More

This hotel is very quirky.. Check out the website. It is decorated everywhere with "crazy" Tango murals which really are fun. There are statues throughout the hotel.. Eva Peron on the stairs, Maradona in the breakfast room and the wonderful tango guy in the reception area. The rooms are adequate, simply furnished but quite economically. The pillows could be better. Bathrooms... More

The review came in a bit late. I stayed almost a week in the hotel in December of 2011. The hotel rooms are all decorated with tango-themed murals. The staff were very cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was among the best I've ever had. I really had a good time there and would recommend it to everyone!

The hotel is in a good location. Most Buenos Aires attractions are within walking distance. The staff spoke very good english and was always eager to help. Most likely the best value in Buenos Aires. The only bad points would be that the bathroom would be due for some renovations and the wifi internet was intermittent in our room however... More

The Hotel was a delight to stay in. The decor was splendid, with brightly painted local scenes on the walls and amazing life size characters in the hallways. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we had and the location was great, close to the city and San Telmo. I strongly recommend this... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.

“We booked a triple room through hotels.com, but unfortunately the website gave incorrect information to the hotel. However, Cynthia worked very hard to accommodate our needs. I would suggest confirming your room type with the hotel if you book through a third party.”
