this is not a hotel, just rooms above a noisy wine bar/restaurant , no hotel services at all.the rooms are dark, there is no lift but above it is really dirty. We cleared out as soon as possible and in all fairness they did not question that we left early.

My partner and I stayed at Sagardi for almost two weeks. We had an amazing experience. First, management granted a complimentary stayed in the master suite for 3 nights. It was great to see the San Telmo fair from our balcony on Sundays. The restaurant is downstairs and they offered free breakfast and also room service until 10pm. We met...

Separate loft rather than hotel. Reception in bar next door. No room service. Friendly staff. Cold shower though. Seems the hot pipe was disconnected. Good location. Great plaza just down the road with tango dancing each night. Breakfast included coffee and croissants. The staff tried to help out with taxis and bag storage.

If you're expecting Homewood Suites go elsewhere. This is better - A unique and romantic experience. The rooms are on the second level above the Sagardi Bar de Pintxos, a basque tapas (pintxos) bar/restaurant which is also excellent. There is no reception desk or lobby - you check in at the bar. The people are friendly and helpful. The rooms...

I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend and we both found it a fab base for exploring Buenos Aires. It is only a short cab ride away from all the main tourist attractions, and walking distance from the main shopping district in BA as well as the port which has loads of restaurants. The immediate area has many...

We stayed two night and were absolutely happy! Being close to the center this is a very good place to start your journey into BA. The fact of the non existent reception didn't bother us at all since we were very friendly welcomed at the bar from where everything is being organized. The rooms have style and the whole area...

Sagardi Loft is really a bunch of rooms managed by the people who run the restaurant downstairs - there is no reception of any kind, and in order to check in, you have to talk to the bartender. They are very nice people, but their primary business is a restaurant (which is very good, by the way - do check...

Sagardi Lofts get a lot of mixed reviews. To understand what Sagardi Lofts are you are better off not thinking about Sagardi as a hotel and more like an Airbnb or short term apartment rental option. Sagardi Restaurant and Lofts are located about 50-meters from Plaza Dorrego in the trendy San Telmo neighborhood. The lofts spaces are above the hugely...

What a different concept: lofts! Our room was fantastic. Lovely artwork on the ceiling and good, comfortable bedding. The entry was interesting as we had to check in at the restaurant which was confusing at first but all made sense afterwards: the hotel is next door upstairs. Was nice to be served some hot drinks and breads and dips while...

Beautiful loft style room. We only stayed for a few days and it was a bit of luxury in our 4month journey. Pool is cool but very refreshing after the hetic heat of BAires. We had roof terrace to ourselves. Great view of Church opposite and to hear the sound of square below. Some have commented on lack of service/ammenities....

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

“All rooms are up a long staircase from the street (no elevator). Almost all of the rooms are very similar large loft spaces with 6-meter ceilings, with an efficiency kitchen, large built in table, storage and luxury bath below a loft where the king size bed is, so bear this in mind if you have mobility issues, need to use the restroom frequently at night or intend to close the bars down every night (very difficult to achieve in BA). One or two rooms are on a single level and face the front but I never saw these rooms.”
