Nice and prefssional team, very helpful and energetic. 'At home' feeling.
Good and safe location in San Telmo. Very nice area, good basis for walks to many places.
Wifi ok!
We stayed here for the second time, service is consistent over time.
Our room / floor had issues with electricity; the team was proactively working on a solution. Probably one of the rooms/customers had broken equipment giving issues.

Staff are friendly and speak Spanish and English.
Happy to give you recommendations on local attractions and activities, and just have a chat generally.
Not a bad location either, especially over weekends.
Daily walking tours and other activities are also offered/organised by the crew here.
My friend and I had a great stay, couldn't recommend highly enough.

I enjoyed my stay at Circus Hostel and Hotel. I had a room with ensuite on the second floor facing the courtyard. The room was quiet and clean. I enjoyed the breakfast as well. I did not use the swimming pool so cannot comment on it. The staff was always cheerful and ready to help. The only complaint I have is with the air conditioning. It is set at 24 and you cannot change it or change anything with the ac. It felt more like a "slow" fan than an air conditioner.

We stayed here for one night in a double room with private bathroom. The room was small and basic, no wardrobe or table, and no room for our suitcases. Overall it was quite drab with no furniture and little love.

We paid US$45, compared to the Puerto Lemon it was not a very good deal. At the Puerto Lemon we paid $47 but the room was much nicer and larger, and came with TV and a window you could open. Both rooms came with Aircon, but in the case of the Circus, there was no remote control so we just turned it on and off on the wall.
On the positive side the common areas were quite good. There are some computers for public use, tea and coffee facilities, swimming pool and a billiard table. Being just a few doors up from the Lemon, the location of both hostels is very similar, and quite convenient to some good cafes.

Given the state of the room we were allocated I can only award the Circus three stars.

They charge in advance and change reservation conditions after the reservation. They do not inform that the payment is made in pesos with exchange rate at the blue dollar rate. They are not friendly when greeting you, they already know they are going to raise the price and it will cause you discomfort. He takes advantage of tourists.

Arrived there and it was exactly like the images on hostelworld.com. Always good that the photos are representative of the actual place. Would not have gotten any better deal for a private room for $20 a night. Would recommend to any traveller to Buenos Aires, as well as learning that San Telmo is a great place to explore! :)

Regrettable experience in this hostel. The receptionist didn't even know how to check in. The elevator did not work and we had to go to the 4th floor without offering rooms on the ground floor. Breakfast is at a cost apart from the reservation. The photos on the portals do not match reality.

After using Hotel Circus' luggage storage service at the lobby (main door closed and Hotel Circus is the unique owner of the key) when I did the check-out, my suitcase was not there (was stolen) when I tried to pick it up. You can imagine my surprise and Hotel Circus said that they did not know what happened. A nightmare started because Hotel Circus said that when I did the check-in, I signed a clause (paper form you are obliged to sign) that makes Hotel Circus not responsible at all of my stuff even if I am using a luggage storage service, so Hotel Circus is not going to take care of your suitcase although you are thinking they are. I swear that Hotel Circus tried to make me feel guilty about their negligence. I called the police and I demanded them because there are 5 cameras recording the place where my suitcase was stolen but they say that they are no longer working. Can you believe it? They are completely liars.
If I were you, I would not book a place like this, where you are completely exposed to be ripped off.
Please, make this opinion useful for other people because tomorrow you can be the next one to suffer this injustice and, you will not able to regret it because you knew it after reading this comment.

Spent a week at Circus in a private room which was more than comfortable and clean. The common area is great but was not very busy in October.
Location of the hotel is good and within walking distance to most things.

I wanted to stay at a hotel towards the end of my trip after having stayed in hostels. I picked Circus Hostel and Hotel based on the rave reviews but unfortunately I was disappointed for many reasons. I think the rave reviews are based on the place as a hostel. It's great as a hostel. Great location, pool table, pretty decent breakfast etc. But as a hotel, I wish I I had paid more to stay at another place. The room wasn't clean as I would have liked. When I arrived, the bed had 3 different types of hair on it, the floor had food which had been stepped on and the cup in the bathroom had dried toothpaste. The next day, the person who had been cleaning my room left their cup with cola in my room. In addition to the horrible state of the room, the lady who checked me in forgot my passport in the scanner overnight! It wasn't until the next day when I inquired about it, the staff at the front desk told me that she did and that 'mistakes happen.' Meanwhile, they had kept it in an open mail cubby instead of locking it up for safe keeping. What a horrible experience. Also most of the croissants at breakfast were charred on the bottom and not palatable.

The only shuttle bus service is call Tienda Leon, is not direct to the hostel or any place in Buenos Aires, is Direct to their private stop from where they use private cars to get you to the hostel. You can buy just to get to their private stop in the city or you can buy all the way including the private car into the hostel.
