Brilliant location but definitely not 4* In a really lovely area next to a lot of bars and cafes and shops . Felt very safe walking around and easy to walk to so many places from here . Our first night here was a disappointment. Arrived after a 14 hour flight and understandably we couldn’t check in as too early but no where to shower so had to change in a very small toilet and carry on until check in time . Rooms very big, no nice views but that doesn’t matter . Everything a little run down and bits of furniture falling apart . I think they are slowly doing it up . Pool had water in but covered in leaves and a layer of dirt . Second time was very different. We could check in early , nicer room and reception most helpful Breakfast is good . If you want a budget hotel with good location this is good .…
I have travelled the world extensively over the last 40 years and this has to rate as the worst checking in experience ever. We had reserved a room for 3 adults with the hotel directly and had a confirmed booking. We dropped our luggage off with the hotel, placed our personal belongings in the hotel safe on the Sunday morning and were told we could not check in until after 3pm and they would take our payment then. We spent the day sightseeing around Buenos Aires, having a lovely meal at Don Julio (a great place to go for the best steak), and returned to the hotel @10.30pm only to be told that they had no room available for the family. It appears that @ 5pm that day a guest suffered a broken pipe in their room and the reception staff had decided to give them our room and find us alternative accommodation in another hotel. The alternative accommodation was two single beds in a disabled room for a group of three. Naturally we were upset, the hotel did not offer to pay the differential, and were unwilling to even pay the taxi to our new accommodation. In addition we had organised for a private Gaucho trip to pick us up from their hotel on the Monday morning. What happened next was bearing on the farcical. A reception staff member decided to call the police as they believed we were being aggressive. The police arrived, and lucky for us our son is a fluent Spanish speaker. They sided with ourselves, told the reception staff member that they should not have been called out and due to the fact the hotel were unwilling to pay for a return taxi fare gave us a lift to the other hotel. We then returned to the hotel on the Monday morning in time for our tour and booked into the hotel using a British Airways voucher for the Monday night (10 October) On the Tuesday when we checked out to return to Chile my wife and son spoke to the manager. The manager was not aware of the police being called and our circumstances (very poor internal communication). They explained all of the circumstances and we have been offered 1 nights free accommodation which we will never take. We have to date not received any explanation as to why no one contacted us on the Sunday to inform us that reservations had changed our hotel and as to why we had been rebooked into a room with 2 single beds. In addition when we stayed on the Monday night, the enamel paint was flaking off the bath, the sink taps were not fixed to the basin (refer pictures attached) and the breakfast milk was sour. Due to our experience it is difficult to recommend this hotel to anyone…
We stayed 4 nights in what was sold as a "deluxe suite" in the Deco Recoleta Hotel. The check in process was a bit painful, but we got there in the end. We took the tiny lift to the fifth floor. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, but dated. Everything worked fine, and the housekeeping was attentive. The hotel did some laundry for us and it was back the same day. We could have got it done much more cheaply at one of the nearby laundries, but we went for the convenience. The breakfast in the hotel was ok. The area is great for restaurants. Try Floreria Atlantico just around the corner. It is a "hidden bar" in the basement of a florist shop. Great fun. If you don't want to pay top dollar for a flash hotel, this is not a bad place to stay.
Location was a short walk from main square, so that was good. Room was clean, basic white, no art, wooden floor looked new. Bathroom needed painting, dark stripe around floor, possibly from a flood? Carpet in hallway was filthy. Reception area was friendly, but often loud music or podcasts were playing, very noisy while waiting in lobby for tour pick up. Elevators very small, needed two for my husband and I to get us and our luggage up to our room. For the price, it was ok, but may be worth spending a few extra pesos!
I travel to BA every year during the first of January. I have stayed previously at this hotel then named OWN. This is the same hotel just more problems. We were two couples and did not get checked in until early evening. Immediately I went to shower and the faucet fell off. It was completely stripped. We were given another room were the toilet seat was broken. The next day we went for showers..no water. Front desk advised we would have water by mid afternoon. For 4 days none of our condiments for coffee in the room were replaced. The breakfast was meager and several mornings had to ask staff to replenish the food. One morning the warm milk was spoiled. We then decided to take breakfast out. There were more issues daily, either maintenance or service. While trying to check out to catch our flight, the computer would not work. A frustrating experience. There are many hotels in this competitive market, and will be looking for another one next year.…
Good location and breakfast. Two lifts for two separate accommodation areas - make sure you get in the right one! Rooms could do with updating: mould in bathroom, no milk in fridge. Socket lose on wall.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom could use an update though. The toilet, shower and towel rack all broke while we were there. Otherwise, it was great!
Large rooms but bathrooms quite basic. Things like toilet seats broken, towel rails bent and hooks missing. Does have air con and breakfast is fine. Can store bags when away from the hotel on trips. Swimming pool empty when we were there in November.
We were here 2 nights as part of an Exodus Tour of South America. The hotel is ok, in need of a bit of refreshing. But it was clean enough and the beds were comfortable and the room was quite big. Breakfast was very good with cold meats and cereals, breads and cakes. Eggs could be cooked to order too. There was even mate (a kind of South American tea) on offer. In a good position, far enough away from the noise of the city but close enough to walk to the main squares.
+ When I had trouble with my transport to the airport the reception staff was very helpful and stayed on top of the problem until it was resolved. - The toilet was not clean. When I asked to have someone come and clean it, it was not done.
