A great location in a very nice town with an amazing 'castle' overlooking everything. The rooms are classical 18th century with 3 floors and no lift (as in the 1880's)....apparently. Very friendly owners and staff, and good breakfasts at a very low cost.

Atmospheric, relaxed, friendly, good value - excellent all round. Good breakfast except the coffee. Well placed in the centre of Tomar just off the main square. Parking is possible in a street close by - the owner will show you.

Good character, friendly service and good value for your money. The hostel is located right in main Tomar with restaurants, shops and bars in walking distance. Parking is possible right accross the river (5 minutes by foot). I liked the honesty bar as well as the garden, the breakfast was nothing special and the coffee is indeed awful...but that is...

We checked in here on Friday for a four day stay and even though the hotel was full and very busy we were immediately made welcome by the host. The room was spotless and although it was a tad on the small side the bed was large enough and ensuite bathroom a decent size. TV in room with plenty of...

Most of the other reviews are correct - by staying at the Residencial Uniao you get character, friendly service and an inexpensive room. The pluses: The staff were exceptionally helpful, the Uniao is located centrally (although parking can be difficult and you may need to park on the other side of the river), the monastery is a short distance away,...

This is without a doubt the top atmospheric budget choice in Tomar, one of the most appealing small town in Central Portugal. It is on the main street, a stone's throw from the charming Igreja (church) de Sao Joao Baptista and just a 10 minutes climb to Convento de Cristo (UN World Heritage), the monastery/castle of the Order of the...

We stayed here for two nights during the recent stormy weather that gripped a large part of Portugal. We even experienced a power cut for a couple of hours one evening. The weather meant it was quite cold so until the central heating came on about 6pm it was quite cold. The hotel is very characterful - old furniture and...

My husband, two daughters (2 and 7 years old) and I stayed there for 2 nights in January. The room would be large for a couple (even a couple with one kid), but was on the small side for the four of us. The location is awesome. The service was very good, very attentive to our needs. The shower holder...

Hotel is located right in the center of Tomar easily reached from the train station by foot. Tomar's old town is quite small so everything is within walking distance of this hotel. The owner George is very friendly and can answer any questions about the town. He gave us a room on the first floor on the street side which...

Enjoyed two nights here in October. 10 minute walk from the train staion. Not many services at the train station when we arrived on a Sunday so bring a basic map to help find your way or ask the helpful locals for directions. Tomar was a nice respite after the frantic pace of Lisbon. The hotel is on a pedestrian...
