This was my 5th time staying at the d’Tunjung Hotel. We were allocated room #808, my favourite of the Deluxe Seaview category rooms. The standard rooms have garden views. The location of this hotel down a small laneway off the main road and adjacent to the Candidasa Lagoon is very good. I love being so close to sea and hearing the waves roll in at night. Please note that the water comes right up to the sea wall, so there is no beach area as such. This hotel has spacious grounds and many palm trees, with the villas being built very much along Balinese architectural design. Our room had a small patio with 2 loungers & small table on it, so we were able to enjoy the sea views directly in front of us. The room had a double bed with mosquito nets, a mini fridge, air-conditioning, a safe (NOT bolted down though!), an indoor/outdoor bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. The infinity pool is another good spot to enjoy the sweeping view of the straits and bay. Breakfast was included in the price, and is ordered from a menu. The fresh juices and Indonesian options were very good. I did not eat any other meals there. There are no longer any bar facilities either, and I was charged 20,000Rp for a very small bag of ice. Unfortunately, this hotel has deteriorated over time and needs some urgent maintenance done. I could really notice the difference from my first stay here 7 or so years ago. There was a lot of mould in the outdoor bathroom(not acceptable since it isn’t the rainy season), the toilet seat was loose & wobbly, 1 shelf under the basin couldn’t be used due to the incline it was on, and the bath appeared to not be cleared of dust & dead leaves each day. The room lighting is very dim, the safe not bolted down, the lampshades kept falling off, and the room could do with repainting along with new curtains. I did note, that the mosquito nets had been replaced since my last visit 18 months ago. Also, the room is locked by a large bolt and key, and inside there are more sliding bolts, but the rooms are not very secure when you go out, due to the gap between the 2 doors. The deck boards around the pool area are very old & sponges, and definitely need replacing before someone falls through them. The sun loungers are ageing too, and the area could do with more sun umbrellas and small tables. The outdoor area certainly needs some major attention to it, and the rooms need refurbishment as well. There is definitely room for improvement to restore the hotel to its former self. Although the staff are lovely, they aren’t as well trained in hospitality as those at the Asmara Hotel next door, where we ate a few times. I will be looking to stay elsewhere on my next trip to Candidasa, as I think that $70 per night could be better spent. Even the newly-revamped Asmara next door, was cheaper. The wooden sun loungers are ageing too, and the area could do with more sun umbrellas and small tables. The outdoor area certainly needs some major attention to it, and the rooms need more refurbishment as well. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement to restore this hotel to its former “glory”. The bathroom and sleeping room are very spacy. Bedroom clean the bathroom however could have had some renovation and some good cleaning. The problem with many of this kind of hotels in Indonesia is that the management find the good cleaning material to expensive. So they clean with only cold water. The restaurant was very simple, wooden tabels en seats. No atmospheer at all. The view was nice directly to the sea. The staff was very kindly and friendly as in most of the hotels. They had a big garden but also not nice decorated with nice flowers and or plants. Our garden here on Bali looks nicer. Also arround the swimmingpool could have some renovation. woodenfloor with nails which point out of the ground is dancerous. The pictures on the hotel booking sites are made (probably) when it just open their doors. Price qaulity is bad, we pay to much. For the same of amount per day you have much better hotels.

I just loved this place the location was perfect for us, simple and old style Bali right on the ocean. the view was amazing and the cool breeze of the ocean was just what we needed after a busy day, just to open up my door and get greeted by that awesome sea breeze. Definitely going back to stay there next year, not fancy but just what we love.

Like most resorts along the Candidasa strip they all need a little maintenance but that is part of the charm of Bali. The garden cottages are a good size and quite comfortable with outdoor bathrooms which is strange at first but you get use to it. If the pool water is to warm just jump in the beautiful clear cool ocean right there in front of you. The staff are typical of Bali always smiling, nothing is to much trouble and always ready to help you with whatever you need. I will be returning to Bali in January and staying here again. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Good: The staff was very friendly and also the international breakfast was good. The pool is located directly at the beach and you have a very nice view of the sea. On sunny days you can even see the island Nusa Penida. Not so good: The furnishing was old and the air conditioner was not working effectively. We had to run the air conditioner on 16°C during the whole day to have a moderate temperature in our room during the night. The room door and windows are not closing properly but you can lock them from inside. The standard rooms for two persons are quite small with no possibility to place your luggage. Total: With a bit of investment this guest house could charge even double the price due to its perfect location.

Stayed for 1 week. Beautiful place in beatifull location. You get what you pay for and in saying that make sure you don't cheap out and pay the extra $10 for the ocean view rooms. Freindly staff and the restaurant is as good or better than most on the main road or bigger hotels and cheaper. Including the beer which is cheaper than the local supermarkets. They also let me keep and Cook fish in the kitchen. Make sure they put you onto Pelangs Tours for any transfers, guided tours, boating , fishing or anything else at all really, very accomadating with scheduales and prices and couldnt be more helpful.

This is a horror hotel. The pictures of the website suggest a paradise with outdoor shower and bath and infinity pool. However reality is that all is worn out and a bath tube is one I would not dare to take a bath in. On top rooms are simply dirty. Those of you who dare to book here, should once look under their bed. Breakfast is also very poor and staff is not willing to show a lot of flexibility to accommodate a simple request as eg to have a toast with a pancake is not possible. Some of the pictures which I took to demonstrate poor state

The location in Candidasa was perfect, near the best restaurants and bars. Off the main road and extremely quiet. The staff are really friendly and helpful (we always got up late and missed the official breakfast time but they always gave us breakfast with a smile!). Bungalows cleaned every day. Lovely little outside bathroom. Very relaxed and informal place. The glass fell out of one of our windows so they do need to do a bit of maintenance but it really doesn't detract from a lovely place for a very good price!
