Nilaya Hermitage is located on the hill tops of Arpora, North Goa with a stunning view of the Arabian Sea and the Arpora Valley. The 33 meter swimming pool rises out like a blue lagoon amongst an award winning Moorish architecture. The Boutique resort naturally blends into the landscaped gardens and the surrounding forest that gives a surreal effect of being away in a different world where quietness is what you breath. The food is predominantly continental and is prepared lovingly by our master chef with more than 15 years of hosting the discerning traveler.

This property is real hidden gem of goa, located at hill top of Arpora area which is one of the best & very beautiful location in goa, yes Nilaya hermitage is located at very peaceful & lap of nature.

Nilaya hermitage offers Beautiful Luxurious stone cottages designed for maximum comfort & relax for guests, this is a testament to the calm and serene environment that envelopes the property. Situated a little over 4 km away from the Baga beach.

Resort is surrounded by lush greenery & property maintained beautifully, they have lots of amenities like, indoor games, outdoor activities, swimming pool, massage, spa, yoga center etc etc, most thing i like is thier rustic theme room no one can beat them in terms of room, it is so beautiful & gorgeous.

also they have in house restaurant & bar were u can enjoy some of Lip smacking cuisine & drinks of ur choice.

I have no words to describe the beauty of this place just visit & experience something different, really i totally in love with this beautiful place, highly recommend.

Really my experience with Nilaya hermitage was outstanding & memorable will definitely visit again and again....thank you team Nilaya hermitage for everything.

I found this hotel by serendipity while making bookings for our Goa trip. It seemed exceptionally extraordinary and inviting from the photographs. Even though the tarriff was way too high, I thought this would be some experience and booked it on gut-feel. We were traveling with our tenaged daughter and wanted the best in any case. I must say we were not disappointed.

The resort is so unlike Goa. Spread over a very large area in dense mangroves that are barely 5 kms from Baga but seem totally like being inside a jungle. The beauty of the place is completely breathtaking. We were totally taken in by the beauty and tranquility of the place. The staff was extremely welcoming. The rooms were beyond beautiful and very very large. The swimming pool is absolutely stunning. And the lush lawns and sandstone rock construction makes it very ethnic and pretty.

We had all our meals there, and the chef's for the Continental food as well as Indian food came and met us and painstakingly explained some exotic dishes. Whatever we ordered was extremely delicious.

Would love to go back again!

This resort is almost there in terms of being a boutique offbeat luxury place. The rooms are fantastically designed, perfect for a hermit seeking luxury! It's perched on top of a mountain with a rustic, Jungle feel. Everything in and outside is classy.

The staff and help are very cool, well spoken and friendly (but not too friendly which is perfect).

What didn't work for me was the vast number of ants and insects inside the room, the fact that it's a little far from all the action, the broken approach road, and the average food (6/10). Another thing, although small - once you're out of the room, you're out. Then, you can't even ask for a bottle of water unless you pay for it. That did leave a bit of a bad taste.

I'd stay here only with a big group, with alcohol and games smuggled in. Because on its own, it's a bit boring and overpriced.

Bore of staying near beach but still love to visit goa ??
Then one must visit Nilaya Hermitage resort, as it in the lap of nature. Yes you heard right this property is in North Goa, Arpora away from the hustle and bustle of Goa city. Nilaya Hermitage offers beautiful scenic view, theme wise rooms with rich interiors. They offer Italian, Continental as well as Indian cuisine for their guest and food here is finger licking & delicious. They also have Spa, Gym & Swimming pool with scenic view for our entertainment. Staff here are very cooperative and always on their toes to serve us their best. A must visit place with your loved ones.

After the lockdown,we planned to go to goafor a weekend. Nilaya is just wow in its own way. Lush green nature, on top of a hill of Arpora. Rooms and specially the staff was just great.A must visit place if you are traveling to Goa and looking for peace and a quiet stay. All rooms are well dressed and every room is different. It's a boutique resort. The food was the best. To talk about the pool and the sunset view is just amazing. It was a perfect destination for relaxing....

We booked a night at the Nilaya as a treat while we were visiting goa for a friend's wedding. We booked by phone which apparently they don't usually do. Arriving at the hotel after a 1.5 hour journey from south goa, we were asked if we were visiting guests. When we said that we were checking in, the response was that someone had phoned to cancel our reservation "a man phoned and said he was calling on your behalf but the line went dead before we could take his name or details". Impossible because no-one apart from us knew of our plans. Interestingly, another couple were checking in at the same time and were welcomed with the words "welcome back - we've just managed to fit you in". So it would appear that the hotel decided to bump us off in favour of some regulars, without having the courtesy to phone and tell us. When we made clear that we weren't leaving without a fuss, we were offered the manager's bedroom (he was travelling) which overlooked the kitchen but was otherwise OK. Other than this blatant rudeness, our impression was of a stylish but very cliquey place. The food is good, the pool service is excellent and the public areas are nice and airy. One other warning to any male guests, if you have a massage it is full nude without any towels.

We visited Nilaya - to check out the place and to have a drink. We were 8 adults and 4 kids. I called ahead to confirm our time of visit (bar shuts at 10 pm they said) and whether they are ok with kids.

The place is gorgeous! They have 11 rooms only and always full. As we were being shown around, the owner - Hari Ajwani - came over to us and asked us to leave. He was quote drunk and said this was not the time to come and that he was not running a kindergarten! We kept trying to tell him that we had specifically called ahead to confirm are arrival time and that we were travelling with kids.

I really dont have an issue with hotels etc not catering to kids but I dont understand why they did not clarify that upfront. And of course nothing gives an owner the right to abuse and humiliate people especially since he is in the hospitality industry.

We gathered that this hotel caters to white people and celebrities. IF you are none of the above, then DO NOT VISIT!

We (two female friends) checked into Nilaya for 3 nights at the end of a short trip around India as a treat. On the surface, things couldn't have been more perfect. Our room was huge, and very tastefully designed with plenty of lounging space. The pool and poolside area were immaculately kept and we couldn't wait to recline in the uber-cool domed music room.

It wasn't long, however, until the cracks began to appear. Dinner is a set menu (included in the price of the stay), and was disappointing on two out of the three nights that we dined there. I would go as far as to say that the curry dish was one of the worst I ate the whole time we were in India. The chicken dish contained very little meat and I left the table still hungry. Which is a tad problematic in a hotel with no room service or even mini bar snacks (there was no mini bar of which to speak).

Breakfast offered little redemption. It was a spartan affair of bread and butter and assorted jams. Eggs were available but at a charge of roughly £2-3 for a very meagre portion. This is not what I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. We also felt under pressure to let the hotel organise our sightseeing, again at an extortionate charge. The final straw was came with the bill. Not only were we charged for our 'welcome' drinks, but we were also charged for a phonecall to confirm our onward travel arrangements - a phonecall that, once again, we were pressurised to have the hotel make on our behalf.

Other low points included a general lack of atmosphere, poor lighting in the rooms (I'm all for mood lighting but it's nice to have the option of being able to see when you are looking for your glasses in the gloom), and the omnipresence of a large, noisy Rottweiller-esque dog. Fine if you are a dog-lover, but a bit intimidating if you aren't.

This is the first time I've ever been motivated to submit a TripAdvisor review, but I feel strongly that Nilaya needs to stop penny-pinching and resting on its laurels. Even the best hotels need to take a step back and reassess once in a while.
