The Manor River Lodge is nicely appointed. Our premier room was large, spacious and had a very large bathroom. Contrary to other reviews the hotel was spotless. The bed itself was big the mattress comfort was fine but the pillow comfort not so great. Having breakfast outside in the garden was lovely. It's a very short walk to the main...

Beautifully furnished with a colonial feel. Staff really helpful and friendly. Lovely garden with a choice of two pools. Centrally located but in a quiet and leafy location. Great breakfast. Perfect stay. Love to revisit!

This was our favourite hotel in South Africa. Very charming building on a quiet street, lovely décor and staff. Breakfast served by the pool was delicious. Even though we arrived late in the evening the receptionist organised a wine tour for us for the next day which we loved (we went to various beautiful vineyards and tried far too much...

This hotel is in a great location right in the heart of Stellenbosch. The gardens were really lovely and the whole staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious with a big double bed, TV and en suite. This hotel is the perfect location for visiting the surrounding wine region and also has some fantastic restaurants and bars...

Like others have said this is an old fashioned hotel - only in the fact of the house itself and its décor, but we liked it. It has the old colonial style, big furniture but it seemed in keeping with the room we were in, which itself was comfortable. I found the beds also comfortable and a lovely big bathroom...

We had booked two nights at this hotel. We were told it was a Boutique hotel in a Colonial style. Well it's small, and old! It's a mish-mash of old wooden furniture, and it feels (and smells) like you are staying in an antique shop. If that's your thing, great but it's not our style at all. The pools were...

This was the last hotel on our list where were staying for 5 nights as a chill out before we went home. Its situation was perfect, just on the edge of the town, just 3-5 minutes’ walk away. It turned out that a wine festival was being held on the weekend we arrived too and that was just up the...

Next stop on our South African tour was Stellenbosch. Nice little town, safe to walk around and well located for all the wineries. Our accommodation didn't quite live up to our expectation. River Manor Boutique is definitely quirky, but is in dire need of serious renovation especially in the main house( dinning room/ kitchen house) Our bedroom was over crowded...

We stayed there as part of our Garden Route trip, and we loved the town and surrounding area. There are lots of good restaurants within a short walk and many lovely wineries to visit for lunch etc The hotel served breakfast outside around the pool in the shade of some lovely trees, I don't think they offered lunch or dinner.
