This is a strange place. It is an amazing stately house with limited rooms and one has the feel you have stepped back in time, and actually that is exactly what you do. Wooden floorboards that echo as you walk, tiny televisions with only 3 or 4 channels and when I was there none of these worked! There is no...

We've stayed here 3 times over the past few years and its always been a treat, although sadly it is starting to show a bit of wear and tear and sadly needs some renovating and care. Nonetheless, its still a lovely experience and VERY reasonable. My husband and I had room no 4 which is massive - there is a...

The high ceilings of this stately, wonderfully maintained manor with wooden floors are authentic remnants of a previous era. The family pictures and authentic antique furniture are scattered tastefully and well cared for across this stately building. The spacious rooms, quaint bath and luxury beds are comfortable and makes for a well appreciated stay. Staff are friendly and there are...

Our family outing took a unfortunate turn when our youngest daughter developed a high fever. The predicament went up one step, because we had our Maltese poodle with us. Fosters Manor welcomed all of us with open arms. The staff member was helpful at every request. The low season rate, to good to be true. We stayed only one night....

I have always dreamed of staying in a museum, wishing I was back in time. And my dream came true in oudtshoorn. We felt like we were in the 1800's , with a bit of a wish of a ghostly experience we had no such luck. But the comfortable accommodation and the stunning breakfast. I recommend this bed and breakfast...

Booking on a whim while travelling we were not sure of what to expect of the Manor, but were astonished at the grand scale of it, the size of the rooms and the value of the breakfast served. The manager was knowledgeable and passionate of the historical grandeur of the Ostrich Palace. Local social life very evident at 2 am,...

If you are going Oudtshoorn to visit the ostrich farms or the Kango Caves, you should seriously consider staying at Foster's Manor. I see from the reviews already given that some years ago this 'grand old lady' was not considered a good spot but clearly the present mamagement has done wonders. The house was designed in 1902 at the height...

Had a stay of 2 nights in Dec 2013, a grand old house with large rooms and old style charm. Breakfast included which was very good, well managed and very friendly and helpful manager. We loved the old place and would recommend it for a visit, gardens and pool were OK but need a bit of attention.

Foster's Manor can either be classified as a truly funky turn-of-the-century discovery or a creepy castle straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I vote for the former, while my wife was firmly in the let's-leave-at dawn camp. Someone with a bursting wallet lovingly restored this 100 year old mansion, and probably doesn't care that few tourists find their way...

A beautiful old manor, well kept and maintained, this place gives you you a wonderful english feel and touch of its own rich history. The rooms are huge, the bathroom has a cute bath-tub and 24x7 hot water supply. We had very filling english breakfast served early morning at 6.30am on our request. Warm hospitality and middle of the town...
