We have now visited 5 times over the last few years - the accommodation is very comfortable and the cottages well equipped. The area is beautiful in a rugged way and its geology fascinating. For a birder there is lots to see but you have to work quite hard.A place well worth visiting - remote, quiet and good for the...

We always try to visit the beautiful Redstone Hills when we take a holiday in South Africa. It is always good to see Petro who makes us so welcome that we immediately feel totally relaxed, her hospitality and attention to her guests is exceptional. We look forward to our walks in the hills, the wonderful peace and quiet of being...

very personal reception in exceptinallly beautiful location. We rented Bushman Cottage, a genuine old farm house from the 19th century. Very rustic and cosy, with indoor barbeque place. the table was already laid when we arrived, delicious precooked home-made food (ostrich Steak - very tasty!). Next day the old farmer took us on a short drive and hike to the...

Wonderful that you had time to do the hike which leads through the red stone hills and explore all the different types of vegetation!

We took our family here for a long weekend away from the city and stayed in Ostrich Palace. This self catering cottage (or not self catering if you prefer) was wonderfully clean and decorated. We had electricity and solar heated water (or geyser if you have many people) and spent most of time outside cooking over the fire and enjoying...

The Red Stone Hills area is magnificent. We were two families staying at Bushmen's Cottage for two nights while our husbands were finishing the last two days of the Cape Pioneer Trek between Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn. Petro accommodated us nicely by placing two mattresses in the cottages to accommodate the two smallest children, at a small extra cost. The cottage...

Unfortunately we were fully booked with the Cape Pioneer cycling event and I only had the one cottage available. The cottage was built in 1888 and some of the rooms are small. We kept the original character of the cottage. Not possible to enlarge the kitchen. We furnished the cottage with antique furniture. The cottage only sleeps 6 people. You...

Red Stone Hills is a beautiful getaway, nestled up against spectacular, red rock formations in the Little Karoo. We only stayed one night but were upgraded to a larger cottage with two bathrooms, each with its own spa bath and separate shower. The cottages use solar energy but, because it was a rainy day, the owner asked us to switch...

We loved our stay at Red Stone Hills. When we arrived and chatted to the friendly owner she and I realized that we had played together as children, aged 4 or 5, 60 years ago!! so we got off to a particularly good start. But you do not need that history to appreciate Petro's welcome. Her cottages are well appointed...

The gorgeous red rock formations were visible as we drove down the road on our way to Red Stone Hills...it was obvious how this place got it's name! The landscape was breathtaking!! I had told management that I was arriving much later than we did, and thus surprised Petro when we drove up. She explained that the room wasn't quite...

Warm and welcoming hosts who went the extra mile to make sure everyone was comfortable. The beautiful landscape and tranquil farm setting can only be described as a soul soother. A definite visit for anyone who wants to re-charge, enjoy nature and experience the warm hospitality of the Karoo.
