Beautiful boardwalk along the shores with nice rooms and friendly staff. Some of the furnishings are a bit outdated but a nice breakfast makes up most of it. We generally recommend this Guesthouse for short stays in the area.

After reading a short article in a German magazine about this guesthouse we made reservations. The Schulphoek is so beautiful situated, a wonderful room with a spectecular view of the bay, and very good hospitality!! The food was delicious, wine perfect, and a heart warming service. We felt well looked after, No complaints in any way and we are looking... More

We arrived late on Saturday night to a warm welcome after a long drive. A butler removed our bags from the car and wheeled it off to our three bedroom cottage on the property(very unexpected for a guest house, but great) We were greeted with drinks and invited to dinner. The food was world class, we all had the fish... More

We recently stayed at your guest lodge, Schulphoek, Limpet room in Hermanus from the 27 – 30 September. We were really looking forward to spending our first 3 nights of our honeymoon and sadly, we left feeling very disappointed. When spending over R11 000+ for 3 nights, one does have a high set of expectations and unfortunately very few of... More

You feel welcome from the minute you walk into this guesthouse. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel at home. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and private, while the lounge and dining room areas have a great view over the ocean. They also have their own vegetable garden which they use to prepare their meals with. They are a 5... More

Whilst very pleasant with fantastic views, this property is way over priced for the finer finishes. There certainly are much better value options along the coast. The bathroom was somewhat outdated and the room (Clam) relatively small. Special notes/comments added through booking.com were in no way acknowledged by the property.

Excellent place, magic view and excellent host. We've stayed 3 days (one day longer than planned) in the cottage, next to the guesthouse. The house which will be renewed soon is a little old, but very well equipped for 6 pers. It has a brilliant view, the best to wake up with...!

This place has it all; great chefs who serve up the most mouth-watering meals, an amazing view from the common area, friendly staff and above-and-beyond customer service. We stayed here on our honeymoon and the two managers went out of their way to make our stay special, including a bottle of champagne and beautiful 'congratulations' flowers. We couldn't recommend Schulpoek... More

Arriving at Schulphoek you receive an exceptionally warm welcome from the team - welcome drink and a brief of the surrounding area, including an offer to book any activities you may need, or meals in local restaurants you may wish to take - with recommendations on where to eat. Shown to our suite - we had a stunning ocean view,... More

Lovely service and friendly staff. The room was a little bit small but not a problem at all for our needs. Secure under cover car parking which was great. The breakfast area / common area provided the most amazing of views and settings which was fantastic with a near guarantee of whale spotting. There was also direct access to a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Schulphoek guesthouse overlooks the bay from which it received its name - an idyllic expanse of ocean, where whales are frequent visitors. Beyond its quiet beaches, you will find nature paths and bird watching. Just 5km from Hermanus centre, Schulphoek offers an eco-conscious refuge, with seven sumptuously decorated suites that overlook either our garden or the sea. Food is our passion. You will find a three-course menu du jour, served at our social table (or separate) with organic produce from our potager garden and fresh-line fish. Our cellar is a haven for aficionados, featuring 12,000 bottles of local wine. ... more   less
