On the way from Capetown to Gardenroute we were looking for the whales. The Cottage was the right place! We received an amazing hospitality by the hosts. A warm welcome, good recommendations for whale spotting and hiking. We've got nice rooms with a wonderful garden to have the coffee outside. This made the stop almost perfect. Finally the perfect breakfast...

This was our third stay as a family of five (three children aged 14, 11 & 8) at Jan & Sarie fantastic cottage. The welcome is genuine, the accommodation clean & comfortable, and ideally placed for walking to the bay or town and a short drive to Grotto Beach. Great attention to detail including books, magazines and local art in...

My wife and 6 year old son and I were let down by accommodation elsewhere on a very busy weekend in Hermanus. Jan and Saria helped us with hospitable accommodation and made sure we were comfortable and well looked after. I stayed in this fab place with my partner in the middle of March during our 3 month tour of South Africa & what a find it was. Apologies for just getting round to writing the review(sorry Jan). Firstly, the host & hostess were so helpful with exceptional advice - beyond the normal. Nothing was too much trouble. Saria &...

Firstly the location is perfect you can walk everywhere from The Cottage and the whales are a 2 minute walk away and the beaches 15 mins. The accommodation was comfortable and clean but more importantly Jan was such a lovely man and with...

Spent (unfortunately!) only one night at this little B&B while driving down the Garden Route. Location was excellent, 3-4minutes walk from the coast (and the whales!), big, clean room with a very comfy bed. The owner was also very welcoming and helpful about the area and even but us in the bigger room for the price of the smaller one...

My husband and I started our long vacation in South Africa watching whales in Hermanus for a whole week (Nov. 2012). We loved our little cottage under the big trees. Saria and Jan were perfect hosts. After spending over 8 weeks in South Africa, it's a pleasure to announce that they served the best and hugest breakfasts in Western Cape....

Stayed here for 2 nights with a group of 5 taking up 3 rooms and had a great time. Jan and Saria are fabulous and very knowledgeable hosts who have been living in Hermanus for many many years and know the area well. The rooms are all self catering and well stocked albeit maybe a little dated, although this seems...

Had a wonderful stay at the Cottage. We spent the last 3 days of our vacation there. Jan, the owner, was a wealth of information of what to do, what to see and how to get there. Breakfasts were delicious and huge! Great value and excellent location. Close to everything....we walked evverywhere. If I ever make it back to that...
