My husband and I stayed four nights at Rutland Lodge on our first visit to Cape Town and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay! The area is very quiet but an easy and cheap taxi away from the bustle of the Waterfront. The house itself is beautiful, so tastefully furnished and comfortable. Our room on the ground floor...

We have recently returned from a fabulous 8 night stay at Rutland Lodge in Cape Town. We were highly impressed with the level of care taken by Jean Jo and Derek to ensure our stay was everything we had hoped for. Last year we stayed in the V&A Waterfront in a plush 5* hotel and this year we opted for...

My wife and I spent three nights at Rutland Lodge after three weeks in the bush. Jean Jo, our host, was very gracious and helpful. He knows the area very well and provided many recommendations for good restaurants and places to visit. The accommodations are exceptional and the breakfasts were delicious. Rutland Lodge is in close proximity to the city...

Having seen the previous reviews of Rutland Lodge, my girlfriend and I had high expectations. We arrived at the lodge in the middle of a tropical storm, things weren't looking so good when we couldn't get an answer on the door bell and were left outside in high winds and lashing rain. A quick phone call soon resolved the issue,...

Jean - Jo was excellent, he is a great host and made us feel so welcome, gave us all the information we needed and plenty of suggestions for our stay in Cape town. Our room was lovely and spacious and breakfast was just fantastic. We will...

We were in Cape Town for 3 nights and had a wonderful time! The owner was fabulous- he gave us fabulous advice about everything from sights to routes to restaurants, and he printed out the day-by-day weather report so we could plan our days armed with that knowledge. I had to take an overseas call in the middle of our...

We have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Rutland Lodge. Jean-Jo was a fantastic host and really made us feel so welcome. We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning or our trip and 2 nights at the end before departing S.A., so we got to experience two great rooms/suites. Both of which were large,...

Rutland Lodge offers a quiet, peaceful stay while visiting Capetown. There is magnificient attention to detail, in decor, food and hospitality. Having never been to Capetown, our questions were welcomed. We discussed our options over a glass of delicious wine. Restaurant recommendations were super. We never felt that safety was an issue. The rooms are quiet and more than comfortable....

Stayed here for five nights to unwind after our trip to Namibia and Vic Falls. Rutland Lodge is an excellent guest house. The bedrooms are well furnished and ours (but obviously not all) had a two aspect balcony with views of Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill and the Waterfront. The breakfasts are outstanding with tremendous attention to detail. The...
