I was on my way to a conference in Stellenbosch when a former student of mine who works in the Sri Lankan High Commission in Pretoria suggested that I spend a few days in Cape Town and take in the sights before proceeding to the conference. I was doing this leg of the trip with two Malaysian colleagues in my...

I really loved my stayed at this hotel and its location is like none other very great location. This hotel is very old but very well keep and clean. The staff was very nice and kind and was very helpful to all my needs. I especially love their free breakfast buffet. The breakfast was the best part of my stay...

I chose this hotel for its proximity to the market and decent fare. Room was clean and service was excellent. Staff was responsive and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet had nice variety and mix of continental and american breakfast. The hotel is near the sightseeing bus, which was a pleasant surprise to me. Great dinner options close to the hotel. Only...

Insurance company booked us a room there. We were there maybe an hour and already found two dead coackroaches. "Keep windows shut, they might fly in" said receptionist. Yep - we left immediately. Room was tired and dusty as well. Cannot recommend.

The only reason I gave a poor and not terrible rating is the staff were helpful in giving us a chance to shower after a visit to Robben Island before we flew out. The hotel feels tired and badly in need of refurbishment and a deep clean. The breakfast were very average. The wifi, whilst free, was annoying. You get...

Surprised at the negative reviews as I had a nice stay at this friendly and perfectly located hotel. Breakfast each morning was great and the room was comfortable and well appointed. I was out and about for most of the day so I was only there to sleep and have breakfast. Thanks Velma for the concierge help and to the...

On a tour of S Africa and yes centrally located hotel but that's it. It's drab, dirty, carpet hasn't been hoovered in the last 2 days. The rooms are depressing and need up dating! My friend has a direct outlook on to a wall. Compared to Inn on the square it's very poor.

Booked for my husband . Said it was the worst experience ever. Room was full of cockroaches. Staff don't seem to care when he complained. Very noisy, you won't get a decent sleep. Shower was filthy and wasn't working properly.Hotel is a health hazard. One pays for parking. Breakfast was also average.

What I have to say might sound a little negative, but I honestly feel that this beautiful little hotel has so much potential. The hotel building itself is lovely, and the rooms have a slight luxury appeal, the staff's service was average and the food acceptable. But what I feel the hotel would really benefit from, especially with business guests...

The hotel is older, maybe even historic. I got a pretty big room at a very good rate considering the central location and the included breakfast buffet. The staff was always friendly and I enjoyed my time at the hotel. Only issue was with the wifi. The speed in my room was very low and there were connection issues. It...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The TUDOR Hotel is much more than just a place to stay. Situated right in the heart of the city on Greenmarket Square with its daily African market, you will be staying in the oldest hotel in Cape Town. We are proud of our heritage and while 'old' adds atmosphere, it does not mean 'old-fashioned'. When it comes to creating comfort, the recently refurbished Tudor Hotel is a combination of contemporary finishes and the historic face of the city. The TUDOR Hotel is situated in the heart of Cape Town, next to Greenmarket Square, the vibrant Long Street and St. Georges Mall with its shops, bars and many restaurants to visit. It is only a short walking distance away from major sight seeing points, such as the Company Gardens, the Parliament and museums. Other attractions can be reached via Public Transport (MyCiti Bus Service) or by a radio taxi. Cape Town's Convention Center (CTICC) is just down Long Street and to be reached within 15 min. Walk from the TUDOR Hotel. ... more   less
