History and modern luxury merge to create ageless beauty at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, which was built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse. This iconic establishment was named after Queen Victoria and her son, Prince Alfred who played an intrinsic role in the establishment of the Breakwater Basin, now the V&A Waterfront. The hotel is located in the very heart of this internationally acclaimed destination and is a sophisticated retreat amid the buzz. It offers some of the most enviable views of Cape Town Harbour, Table Mountain and the slick city that stretches out at the foot of this Natural Wonder. Timeless elegance and personalised luxury are found at the award-winning Victoria & Alfred Hotel.

After eight days in luxury guest houses with very personal service we were not expecting much from a sizeable hotel in a popular location but we were pleasantly surprised. The location in the vibrant waterfront area was perfect and if we go again, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else

Chose this for its character rather than a big name hotel. Also Needed to get in some exercise each day by walking 15mins to the convention center for a conference. Fairly safe walking route in daylight but more isolated at night although is staffed with security guards along

Is there a pool?
Yes, across the road at a boutique hotel you can use as a guest. Pool is small but great garden and sun loungers

I did not see the lift rooms. My room was facing the street looking directly at the Ferris wheel. This hotel is very nice and I’m sure thus room would be wonderful. I am guessing it is on the top floor which would make for a beautiful view. Enjoy your stay

My friends stayed on the 1st floor and we stayed on the 2nd floor, all rooms were very spacious as this building is a refurbished old dock side style building. Your room will be on the 3rd floor built into the high pitched roof line and l am sure will be great but will be a smaller room. There are many safe restaurants and casual drinking areas within 50-150m of the hotel and a mall also close by. Highly recommend the Grand Hotel on the harbour front plus and the Fish Market Restaurant, had great seafood. Bit of advice if heading to Table mountain, if a clear day head up early, 8.00am or if the day will be clear head up about 1.30-2.00pm as will save a 1-2hr queue. Enjoy Cape Town.

I'm a light sleeper too, and I bring a small white-noise machine everywhere I travel. You can get one in the baby section of department stores. Bring an adapter and a transformer if it doesn't convert to 220V. FYI - South Africa has a very specific adapter -- it is not the one in general use in Africa. This is a ROUND three-prong adapter.
