It starts out as a downer—no ramp for wheeled suitcases—you have to lug it up the stairs.

This is the one of the few places I have been to with a tour group where you had to pay for wifi. I heard it was awful.

There are no plugs near the bed (so if you have a CPAP machine you better have a long hose) and the A/C is far from the beds. In fact, there are few plugs at all. Not enough light to read by.

Our room was facing the street and it was quite noisy.

There is a decent fitness center but it is hard to find and get to.

The staff is friendly and the on site restaurant is good.

Overall, did not meet expectations.

Nice building in a great location in the city that very much serves as a place to stay with little personality.

We payed approx NZD 140 per night which for the size and quality of the room was good value for money.

Slight issue with the shuttle bus which we booked and payed for but never sent to airport, staff however did reimburse the taxi man we got.

Side note- Lift system flawed if wanting to go to the lofts, only left elevate goes to that floor and the up button calls the other lift.

Overall very clean and would stay again.

Cape Town was completely overbooked, and I had to take one of the last rooms that was available below € 500 per night: at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel. Because of its quirky looks on the fotos, I was worried that the hotel may be too downmarket, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and nice enough, the rooftop pool was cool to sit at, and the restaurant was really good. Best treat for me: the cigar lounge, a rare facility to find these days!

Booked at Cape Town Lodge Hotel for a weekend away and was pleasantly surprised at how well run the hotel is from reception to cleaner to waiters to the parking bay staff. The hotel and parking bay is spotless. As an halal client my mind was set at peace by the manager in the dining room for breakfast about the food. Thank you all.

This property displays a 4-star but felt like a 2 star. Was a disaster of a stay. We booked in for 4 nights and fled after one night. We did not feel at all safe in the hotel never mind the sleepless night.

These were our lowlights of the property.

1) R100 parking only for the hotel to park you in with other cars so you cant leave. They made us leave our keys but never had keys for the car parking us in.
2) Aircon was so noisy that it constantly woke us.
3) The pool lift was a very scary experience.
4) Fire Alarm kept going off in the hotel. (4 times in 24hr) Then the roof sprinkler system went off and they covered the floor with a white sheet.
5) Constant power on and off for a few minutes at a time or 5 or 6 occasions (Over and above the load shedding - 6 hrs in 24 hrs)
6) Very dated room.
7) A mini-bar selection of non premium products at ridiculously high prices.

Do not recommend.

Stayed 3 nights as first leg of a Gate 1 tour. Check in was fast and friendly. Room was great. Liked the location - just a few blocks from Desmond Tutu's church, only a US$4 Uber ride to Table Mountain.Restaurant on site was fine - service a little slow but we were in no hurry and enjoyed the extra set from the singer. Request a Rodrigues tune and get him talking! Very happy with the experience and would recommend.

It's an okay e/nough place, with friendly staff - but their was a sting. They took my girlfriend's expensive dress for dry cleaning, and returned it shrunken and with the material ruined. They then denied responsibility ("We send it to an outside cleaner,") and instead of compensating me, they presented me with the laundry bill!! . After much argument, they said not paying that bill was all the compensation they would offer. As always, the tell-tale sign is not the mistakes a place makes, it's how they deal with the aftermath - dreadful.

We stayed at this hotel through an organized tour group. I probably wouldn't have picked it on our own but was pleasantly surprised. Clearly, it is not a four seasons but for the money, the friendly service and cleanliness it is a fine property. Located near the old historic muslim district, loads of great restaurants around the block and helpful staff...not a bad choice for the location and the price point. The rooms had nice bed linens, refrigerator and a coffee maker.

Unfortunately stars don't seem to be a rating one can trust, this so called 4 star establishment is really overrated.

Don't dare be a smoker and check in here, the smoking section is a tiny corner in the driveway, loud and dangerous.

Generally the staff are rude and obnoxious. So far only the porter, Victor has any sense what customer care or service is.

The meals, well for that one make sure you have a strong stomach or don't come hungry....

I would strongly advise that you also bring your own tea or coffee.

At first arrival, appeared very happy. Had supper in Thd famous butchers Grill. I could nog fault the restaurant. Superb.
Then things started going downhill. Coffee sachets were terrible and cheap coffee. We paid for superior room and were given a small interior room looking into what I can only describe as looking into a mine shaft. Balcony was tiny, steel floor had huge rust holes in it and the flower box had dead plants in it.
Then we checked our credit card statements. Although we had been broked in via booking.com inclusive of breakfast, the hotel charged us again for breakfast.
Then we went to try out the advertised hotel pool with its POOL BAR, well another disappointment as pool is tiny and NOT part of hotel but the apartment section. Then we tried to get in the water but the steps were small round bar steps which dug into your feet and were dangerously slippery. We didn't get in. Then we decided to have a drink while we soak up the little bit of sun that manages to sneak in, butbfound it is not a BAR at all and only serves soft drinks.
That was the final score that pushed us over the edge. We spoke with management to cancel the next 6 days and find an alternative hotel. The managers were very sympathetic and helpful.

I stayed in November last year for 10 nights and didn't have to pay for WiFi. It was included as part of the room rate. You have to log back in when you have taken your device away from the hotel but otherwise, it was fine.

They offer free coffee but cappuccino I suppose they consider it over and above their "4 star " breakfast! I suggest they downgrade to 3 star
