Parker Cottage is a gem and we were so lucky to find it and start our holiday in South Africa there. It is just a lovely place and the staff so friendly and helpful. The whole guest house is decOrated to a very high standard and is very well appointed both inside and outside on the lovely verandah and gadgets where...

So kind of you to mention Phaedra by name! She's joined us for the season and is just such a seasoned professional. Nothing is beneath her (she's just as likely to be found cleaning a bathroom as being the hostess) and she's got more energy than our local nuclear power station. I'm so sorry that I didn't get to meet...

We had such fun hosting the choral group here! Really, it is always quite an honour to host musicians and artists. Please do let us organise your next trip for you in more detail. It looked to us like you were doing a lot of running around! We organise everything from transport, to dinner reservations to internal flights and much...

We stayed at P C for several nights at the start of a return trip to the Western Cape.. By SA standards this is an exceptionally old place, actually two cottages built by a Victorian Mayor of Cape Town, and beautifully converted into a cool, dark, comfortably furnished b and b, with lovely comfy bedrooms with period bathrooms. Tomas welcomed...

Thanks so much Roland for the lovely review! Yes, we are pretty ancient as buildings here go. If you like creeky old floors, funny door knobs and handles, marble fireplaces and enormously high ceilings, we're the place for you. But yes, at 1895, we're not exactly ancient compared to some places in Cape Town. Groot Constantia was founded in 1685...

They have it so right, the house in gorgeous and I smiled every time I returned after a day/ evening out. From the minute you arrive, Tomas has suggestions what to do and where to...

We loved that you smiled every time you went in and out! Funnily enough, I feel the same way about this place and I work here. :-) Jameson and Tomas are absolute legends at what they do. Thanks for noticing. Would you believe that Jameson had never worked in hospitality before less than a year ago? He's just born to...

Had booked for a 7 night stay at Parkers cottage after reading various reviews here I must have exchanged at least 20 to 30 mails with them before my trip and every mail was replied to promptly and with details and we were made to feel welcome there itself. The room we were in was small but cosy. The tours we...

Thanks so much for the lovely review! Yes, Chris does do a sterling job of guiding our guests around the Cape. We're delighted that you enjoyed our breakfast so much (of course, I have to make sure it's up to scratch by trying it every day - I have such a hard life!) We do now offer a travel planning...

Loved everything about this B&B! My husband and I normally stay in hotels and decided to try something new during our trip to South Africa from USA. This B&B really set the bar high for future guesthouses. From the fresh flowers at the door when you walk in, to the personal attention and care, to the most adorable patio to...

Thanks so much for this lovely review! And for noticing the fresh flowers. Tomas is our flower buyer and arranger (I was fired for being rubbish at it!). Our patio and gardens are looked after by Diana who works so hard to keep everything blooming and green. Yes, Ubers are really amazing here. I have got to the point where...

Wonderful Jerome - thanks for mentioning Tomas by name. He's one of the jewels of Cape Town, isn't he! Lovely room, attention to detail, a great breakfast, and a house with a story. If you didn't know about Mr Parker, grab the coffee table book and read his story. Thanks so much Craig! We do appreciate. Yes, it's amazing how little is known and said about John Parker, the original builder of not only Parker Cottage but also most of Cape Town. We'll see you for your next special occasion!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Parker Cottage! We’re a little different than the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional ‘place to sleep’, we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat right in the creative heart of Cape Town. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don't do minibars, piped music or even reception desks. Think of us like a country house in the middle of the city. We’re the kind of place where you can rediscover the art of conversation, endless breakfasts and total serenity. Parker is a social place too: our legendary free wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there’s no ‘cut off’ time for our gourmet breakfasts either. ... more   less
