We stayed for 6 days in Cape Town in October 2013 and this was probably the best place in South Africa. Very clean rooms and facilities and very friendly and helpful staff! You can watch TV and DVDs, free Internet and WiFi, free breakfast... It's a very quiet area even though it's right in the city center. Just perfect!

An excellent hostel. I felt like home. Wayne and Steven were very helpful and friendly: calling cabs, recommended very good restaurants and bars. The atmosphere is relaxed. Super comfortable beds and lounge, very well equipped kitchen inkl. Breakfast. Everything is very clean. A very good choice for a stay in Cape Town.

Stephen runs an excellent mid-sized hostel. Super comfy beds and lounge, very well equipped kitchen, a very short walk to the action of Long St, the mycity bus right outside the front door and if course a great mix of people staying. Stephen caps it off with very enthusiastic, personal service. A very good choice for a stay in Cape...

Wayne and Steven do understand making you feel home! Not only they helped me where they could by for instance booking all activities over phone or calling cabs, but they also maintain a tremendously clean hostel. Furthermore the interior is remarkable and the atmosphere relaxed. They are fine guys with big hearts and open minds. It is a tiny bit...

Best service you can get! All the employees were super helpful/polite/friendly! We had a private room at the lodge. Great beds and big bathroom. Cozy garden, nice common area with comfortable sofas (guitar if you play). Breakfast is served until eleven which is a big plus if you like to sleep a bit longer in the morning :)

I stayed in the dorms for 28 days and never had a problem! I only had great experiences with fellow travellers and with Stephen and Wayne (who run the place). Perfect location for tourist attractions as well as local places, safe, incredibly clean, great wifi connection, excellent living room/lounge, perfect kitchen for self-catering, gorgeous view of table mountain from the...

Amber Tree Lodge was just right. Very comfortable, clean, safe, and centrally located. The views of Table Mountain from the balcony in the hammock are worth the stay. The staff is accommodating and were able to arrange transportation quickly and efficiently. I especially appreciated their safety features. Very good value for the money.

My wife and I are avid backpackers, and whilst we have recently been upgrading to hotels, we still constantly look for the kind of value that a backpacker lodge gives. Whilst this is a great place for backpackers in general, in fact one of the nicest i've seen, they also offer a couple of very nicely furnished rooms for couples...
