We couldn’t fault our stay at Ndhula Lodge. Set in a secured estate in rolling hills of African scrub and macadamia nut plantations 10 minutes from the Kruger International Airport. Greeted by a small group of Nyala antelope and two grazing warthogs. Other wildlife sighted around the lodge included wildebeest, zebra, kudu and two glorious giraffes who curiously watched my partner pass to and fro on his morning run. Greeted warmly by professional and interested staff. In fact Charles and his amazing staff were warm, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Accomodation is in tents and is exactly what we wanted. Rustic, melting into the shrub, but a big comfy bed with an electric blanket, and a big ensuite bathroom. Tents are made of canvas, so noise travels easily through the walls. Waking to a magnificent magenta sunrise with a rising crescendo of bird calls though was part of this unique experience. The main lodge was a huge open space and enticed with a view over the hills and mountains. A comfortable and inviting space to relax and meet. And eat - food was hearty, plentiful and mostly included in the tariff - our main extra was our morning cappuccino and hot chocolate, and a beer and rosé at night. A packed lunch was provided on the days we went on safari in the nearby Kruger National Park. Staff can arrange all tours and transfers at reasonable prices. We had a rented car, which was convenient for the 10 minute drive into the local town, White River, for shopping in its modern shops. Our stay was completed by a great African happy birthday and dance which I will always cherish. Thank you Ndhula Lodge.

Stunning Lodge with nice tents and an amazing view. Nothing better to wake up to see the sunrise from your bed and enjoy the landscape.
I went there for my birthday weekend. The service was excellent, the waiters and staff were very nice and courteous. On my actual birthday they sang for me and played the drums :-) I even got a nice cake with candles.
And that all during these difficult times - I always felt very safe and I was very happy to see that all the precautions were in place.
Definitely a place I will visit again.

Wonderful stay! The tents are really comfortable en have all the comfort you need. View (specially nr 4) is marvellous! Staf friendly and food and prices great! Pool is nice and the lounge is really cosy with breathtaking views.
A few attentions needed to be really excellent:
- our safe was broken with our stuf inside. They had to break it open. They never replaced a new safe.
- the shampoo container was allready broken when we arrived and never replaced.
- the floor in de tent (toilet / bathroom) need to be cleened and sanitized more often.
With a more critical view this place good be 5 star excellent, so much potential!
We enjoyed it very and will be back for sure!

We stayed at Ndhula on route to the Kruger National Park for 3 nights. The location setting of the lodge is very convenient, it’s a hours drive away from Malalane or Numbi gate.
The lodge is beautiful, with lovely tented accommodation as well as chalets.
We stayed in the tented accommodation, the room was nice , with a feeling of being right in the bush.
The staff go the extra mile , especially the chef, as we had specific dietary requirements, he always made sure we well taken off.
The managers also do there best to ensure that our stay was pleasant and memorable.
The only one area that needs attention, if you have high occupancy than employ more waiters as well as housekeeping staff.
This was very annoying as the rates are not cheap , and you expect the lodge to step up and not cut back on these essentials.
We however do understand that we are in a middle of the Covid -19 pandemic, surely based on numbers coming in to the lodge the adequate staff must be brought back. This is something that will surely serious attention.

On a recent long weekend trip, we stayed here for 3 nights. It ended up being so bad we tried to leave as early as possible each day and coming back as late as possible.
The room/tent:
There were empty bottles and refuse in front of the balcony/stoep. Electrical fencing 15m further. There was no fridge in the room, the warm blankets did not work curtains were very dirty. The tent itself was pretty on par for what we paid, but have experienced much much better for a lot less. The service was absolutely appalling from the start.
The restaurant:
The Service/Staff:
This was a joke. There were not enough standard plates for all the guest to eat from, so side plates were used and the cutlery was dirty. There was not enough space for all the guests and some had to wait more than an hour. The waiters had no idea what was going on and kept forgetting orders. The average wait was 45 min for the "starter" (bread with some pepper on it can only take so long), then another 45min for the mains and another 45min for the attempt of dessert (this was the case for breakfast as well). No condiments were on the table nor serviettes etc.
The Food:
I am no foodie and nor are we big eaters, but the set menu was and the food supplied was of such poor quality (some of it was obviously straight from a can/tin). The food was comparable to to that of hostel food. A 2 year old would fair better than the kitchen staff. The portions were lacking terribly. Everything was made as an after thought.
Checking out was another issue as they were not able to find our reservation and our invoices for drinks etc. This lead to us having to calculate our own invoice after we were told we will have to wait 30min for the invoice.

A FELLOW SOUTH AFRICAN
5.0
We were very disappointed and will not recommend the lodge likely.
Liked · We booked at Ndula since the lodge won the 2023 Luxury Lifestyle Awards. The tent was well equipped and the beds comfortable. The shower was also very nice. The meals were good.
In the tent: a chipped mug, only 2 small bath towels and 2 hand towels, no bath mats. Only 2 coat hangers, no toilet holder in toilet, No tv in tent or restaurant.
Spa: Both the ladies in the group booked foot massages and was expecting to receive an exfoliating as well as oil massage as was advertise, but only received an oil massage and it was not wow and expensive.
Scenic Drive: On the day of arrival we decided to take the 1h scenic drive to see the area. It was overly expensive for what we received and in comparison of the lodges we visited earlier on our trip. The driver did a good job driving on 4x4 terrain, but had no knowledge of the area or plants. It was actually just a drive through the estate showing us a few animals and taking us to a viewpoint. The drinks that were offered to us on the drive were also unbelievably expensive.
Restaurant and staff: We ordered cuppuccino's with our first day's breakfast, but was said it will be charged when we ordered it again on the morning of our second day. The restaurant did not have any decaf coffee available and noise levels at 6am when staff arrives were unacceptable. Staff was slow and were most of the time sitting in the information office - sometimes 4 at a time - on their cellphones.

Responded 18 Apr 2024
Dear Ms Christa du Plessis Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased that you had a comfortable stay at Ndhula Luxury Tented Lodge and enjoyed the meals on offer. However, it is disappointing to learn that you were not completely satisfied with certain aspects of your stay, and have carefully investigated every item raised. Please allow us to respond as follows: Our Housekeeping Manager has checked every cup in every room, and found one mug with a chip. This mug was immediately disposed off, and replaced with a new one. We apologise profusely that our housekeeper missed it when servicing your room. We provide 2 regular bath towels (not bath sheets) and 2 hand towels in each room, as well as a bath mat which is rolled up in a similar fashion to the towels. Going forward, we will store the mat separately and closer to the shower so that it is clearly distinguished from the towels. We do provide a toilet roll holder (the upright stick type) next to the toilet. Housekeeping will ensure that there are 4 hangers in each tent. Our current norm is 2 hangers which was based on the average length of stay of our guests. We made a conscious decision not to install a television and wifi in our rooms to enable our guests to completely disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wifi is available in the public areas of the Lodge for guests that have to stay in contact during their getaway. We sincerely apologise for the fact that your Foot Massage did not include an exfoliation prior to the oil massage. This has been addressed with the spa therapists to ensure that the treatments are performed exactly as advertised. We are confident that our treatments are competitively priced, and will continue to monitor this to ensure good value for our guests. It is important to note that we do not advertise a traditional game drive, but offer a scenic drive to share the natural beauty of our bushveld estate with our guests. We made sure that our beverage prices compare extremely favourable against other lodges / hotels / restaurants in the region and provide our guests with exceptional value for money. Our breakfast menu includes filter coffee or a selection of teas. Cappuccinos, espressos, lattes and other speciality beverages which are prepared by a barista are excluded. Decaffeinated coffee is available on request - we regret that this was not explained to you during your stay. Management has addressed the speed of service with the team and we endeavour to keep waiting times to a minimum in all departments. Our staff have a variety of applications on their cellphones to enable them to perform their jobs successfully, such as the spa & activity scheduler. Even the bar's point of sale software is a mobile application nowadays! The staff convene at the reception hub to check and reconfirm various functions during the day against guest accounts, and update this on their phones accordingly. We concede that this may appear unprofessional, and will do our utmost to keep this to a minimum and out of sight as far as possible. Mrs Du Plessis, we thank you for raising your concerns with us - it helps us to critically evaluate our service levels to continually improve and enhance our offer to you, our valued guest. We hope that you and your travel companions will visit us again in the future to experience the award-winning service we are proud of! Kind regards Guest Relations

It was a great stay. We enjoyed ourselves. The manager Mr Riagard was very accommodating to us. After our booked tent didn't open, he moved us swiftly to another tent. The following day he moved us to a luxury room called the superior room. When we got there we were blown away by the decorations and a complementary bottle of the finest wine and chocolates. The room was decorated with rose pedals everywhere. It was simply the best getaway we ever had. We are definitely going back. The breakfast and dinner was always on point. Great food and great the best cappuccino.

The one thing that attracted me the most was that "noise is prohibited and guests making too much of it or playing loud music may be asked to leave. However, the music played at the reception can be heard from inside the tent I was using as it was closer. The staff during the day when most guests are gone, were also so loud, shouting such that one struggles to sleep or rest during the day..

Dear mafodikg Thank you for your feedback. We are known as a tranquil destination, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and we are saddened to hear that you did not experience the restful breakaway you envisaged. We apologise for the staff's loud conduct and can assure you that this will receive immediate attention to prevent further disturbance to our guests who choose not to go on excursions during the day. Thank you also for bringing the music disturbance to our attention. Clearly sound travels further than anticipated in the bush, and we will definitely look at better ways to provide ambient background music in the main area, without distracting guests in the nearby tents. We value your support and hope to welcome you back to experience a true peaceful and relaxing stay with us! Yours in hospitality Ndhula Management

Fantastic accommodation, first night a bit worried that creepy crawlies could get into the room through the floor boards!! Very comfy room, lovely bathroom etc. Lighting a bit dull and we had a few power cuts to add to the fun!!
Great staff, lovely food. Nice pool area. Animals roaming around made it more authentic.
We had a great last night, even though we missed out on our Broma because of the weather. We played all of our fav songs and danced the night away. Even had entertainment from the staff which was great.
