We stayed for 5 nights during our trip to SA. Room was spotless, very comfortable with lovely private patio area, mosquito nets were a necessity and beds comfy. Location was beautiful, grounds made you feel you were definitely at one with nature, including a visit from two hippos around the pool on our first evening, terrifying and amazed, breathtaking. Only...

This Lodge is well located with beautiful grounds. Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the atmosphere and the place. The room was fine, nicely decorated with a number of African motifs, and was well equipped. A particular disadvantage is the bathroom where the toilette are separated from the Room's level by a step (which requires caution in access to...

good location in saint lucia, very nicely decorated and confortable no meals (except for the breakfast) were included but the location is very close to the center where all the restaurants are only negative point is that the pool is not heated and not very clean so this makes it impossible to use

Within easy an easy stroll of all the restaurants and goings on in town but over-looking the estuary and being the last B&B in the line down the road it borders directly on the lovely forest walk which occupies the tip of St Lucia's little peninsular. Room was very nice indeed, absolutely everything we requested, asked for or mentioned was...

The location of this lodge is amazing. Guests can sit out in a peaceful candle lit garden and ovelook the wetlands. At night a hippo comes up into the garden and you can withdraw to view it from the safety of the garden room. Hosts very friendly and helpful. My husband found the bed a little short but other than...

With a distance of close to 1,000km. from Bloemfontein to St. Lucia we experienced our stay at King Fisher as superb! Your location, room, amenities and service in general were connoisseur stuff. My complements also for a perfect [tropical] garden setting and a Maureen Main who contributed to our memorable stay.

We stayed at the Kingfisher Lodge in St Lucia for five nights. We booked a superior room or suite. The rates are reasonable, the staff friendly and our stay has been very comfortable. The breakfast is adequate, though a bit repetitive. The towels are changed daily and a limited packed breakfast is available on request. There are lovely grounds, a...

Kingfisher Lodge is a very pleasant place to be - away from the hustle and bustle of the main street in lovely St. Lucia. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast each morning, while observing the occasional monkey in the trees. The room was comfortable (but could be even more so if some of the very many decorative articles were removed) and...

Have stayed here before, and enjoying coming here because its in a quiet part of town. Rooms are comfortable, general atmosphere of the facilities and grounds is peaceful. Decor is good, and a great setting for breakfast with views onto the lawn overlooking the estuary in the distance... However, on my most recent stay, there was loadshedding. There are no...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
St Lucia is the gateway to the beautiful iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, declared South Africa`s first World Heritage Conservation Site in 1999. St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge is situated at the edge of town which means that whilst the shops, restaurants and other amenities are only a 10 minute walk away, the lodge`s delightful gardens blend seamlessly into the surrounding Gwalagwala Forest. The lodge has extensive shady gardens with a wide variety of trees. St Lucia Estuary can be viewed from the end of the garden and the start of the walking trail through the Gwalagwala Forest is next to the front gate. This proximity to nature means that the gardens are home to a wide variety of birds and are often visited by animals such as hippos, various antelope, bush babies and very occasionally leopards. A small swimming pool is available for the exclusive use of guests. Guests are welcome to relax either on sun loungers in the garden, under a poolside shaded area or in the comfortable lounge in the main house. All room rates include a delicious full breakfast which is served in a light and airy dining room offering views of the gardens and estuary. Accommodation at St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge: We offer six unique and private rooms. Each room sleeps two and is equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito nets and a bar fridge for your comfort and convenience. All rooms have en suite facilities and a private shaded patio area. Other facilities at St Lucia Kingfisher Lodge: - Bar Fridge in each suite - Traditional Zulu hair braiding by the experts (go home with a new hairstyle) - All our Suites are non-smoking - Smoking on the patio is permitted - Internet Facilities - Free WiFi - Secretarial Services i.E.: Confirmation of flights, arranging tours/safaris etc ... more   less
