A charmingly old-fashioned hotel with a previous era's standards of space, service and comfort. We had a pair of suites to accommodate 5 adults, one with a pair of bedrooms, one with a separate sitting room, large and comfortable enough to host a whole family game of cards. Both bathrooms had baths(!) and plenty of hot water. The restaurant supplied...

Its a lovely little hotel that is not been taken care of , the rooms are tatty and need some TLC. Its a shame as it could be lovely. Everything is slipping into a decline so I am not sure how long it will take before it becomes really shabby.

Good Morning Thanks for taking the time to review the Royal Hotel. Please be assured that every effort is being made to renovate and restore the Hotel to it's original state. As a heritage hotel, the guidelines are extremely strict, and budgets are limited. Whilst ongoing maintenance is taking place, we do our very best to ensure that rates are...

Besides the charm of the traditional bedrooms and furniture try the Bar " happy hours " where you will be friendly welcome and take the opportunity to enjoy the beer or wine tastings, you won't be disappointed.

Iconic building in an historic setting. Room was cute although a little old fashioned. Food was well prepared, plentiful and good value for money. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Lovely lounge area off reception where wifi is available. Traditional bar area.

Rains early in the day drove us into the hotel which was very quiet. Attached to the hotel proper is a large saloon for coffees and teas when it is not quiet. We had excellent hot chocolates and excellent service all in splendid isolation!

From the moment we got there to the beautiful breakfast we had on the morning we left, we had an incredible stay. We took a walk down-town Pilgrimsrest and we were all in awe. The people were just super friendly, from the receptionist, police from up the road, small kids in the street, the vendor on the side of the...

Lovely little hotel set in the small mining village of Pilgrims Rest. Still has usthentic feel of the times. Rooms are neat and tidy and meals very tasty and well prepared, Unfortunately the staff do tend to beg for tips. Also make sure you receive a receipt when paying for meals.

Old victorian style hotel in pilgrims rest. We stayed in one of the old victorian cottages belonging to the hotel. If you like this, you have a great time. Else, it's an old cottage, smelling like a museum in a remote location. I would have preferred a more modern and maintained hotel in blyde river canyon. Pilgrims rest itself is...

I had a short but very pleasant stay. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and well trained. The room was lovely and despite need a bit of paint here and there it was beautiful. The meals I had were excellent - especially the Oxtail!!

Everything just fine. Perhaps consider providing better parking facilities. Although very low crime rate in Pilgrimsrest, this may change in future. Break-ins into cars to steal low value items will spoil an overnight visit to the Hotel.
