We spent three nights in the guest house. The rooms were big enough, functional and clean. We occupied four rooms, inclusief the family room. The family room consists of two rooms with connecting doors, which is very practical. We booked including breakfast. The breakfast was excellent. The owners are very friendly people and very hospitable, which made us feel very welcome. When we were allready checked out, we ran into car trouble. Because it was on a saturday afternoon, all garages were probably closed. As the rental car company surely wasn’t helping us, we called the owner of the guest house and asked him if he could help us, which he gladly did. He arranged a garage to come and help us (the man came within 20 minutes, even with his wife and daughter in the car). When we were on the AirPort, we received an whatsapp from the owner, to check if we made it to the AirPort on time (which we did). The kindness of the owner, even when we already left, is something that makes this guest house special. We can certainly recommend a visit to Mariu Guest House.…
This has got to be one of the top five guest houses I have stated in. Quiet, beautiful surroundings, hosts are very friendly and helpful, rooms are amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be going back
Mariu guest house is located about 2.5 km from de center of nelspruit. Owners are very nice and helpful. Overall it is good, the room have a good space, it is very clean and it is comfortable. The shower don't have a curtain, what makes taking a shower a bit difficult. Breakfast is very poor and doesn't worth money paid. Also have a lot of rules that seems more a private house than a guest house, one is that We need to arrive until 17h otherwise will have an additional fee, breakfast is from 6-8h. We were spending weekend and want to rest a little bit, but we were forced to wake up very early so we didn't miss breakfast. Overall it is an average guest house. I believe that it is expensive for what you get and there are some details that should be improved.
Always nice to stay at Mariu. Charlene is a very good host and always tries to go the extra mile. The rooms are spacious, have dstv and the wifi is good. It is in a quiet and convenient part of town, close to shops and restaurants.
I was reluctant to write this review because I was a guest here for 3 years. This last visit I stayed there with my kids. My son accidentally wet the bed. In the morning when checking out, we apologized and offered to have the mattress professionally cleaned. I was told that the mattress doesn't have a mattress cover (ewww!) so I would have to buy a new mattress. As an owner of a guest house you have to assume some responsibility a: to protect your mattresses and b) that accidents from kids will happen c) that way worse probably happens on those mattresses. Although I don't think that was fair, I paid for the mattress, but I was told I would have to pay double what all of the local mattress shops charge. I refused and paid the highest value for a twin mattress in Nelspruit. But I still cannot believe that they would lose clients that they had for 3 years over a little boy having an accident. I'm sure it's happened plenty of times and people don't tell the owners. So much for being honest. I felt very scammed on this visit. Previous to that I found the owners friendly and helpful, but my perception of that is now completely changed.…
This place has lovely rooms, large clean and comfortable, great bathrooms - big and clean, tv, fridge, tea, kettles - wifi (although didn't work all the time) - good potential. The misses were - super noisy - first night a little dog yapped from 2am - big problem when you are running a marathon - not sure if it was the owners dog, or other guests. The next morning - now post marathon another guest and their child were yelling outside our room from 5am. The owner was quick to reprimand my friends and I for sins such as parking on the lawn (parking inside is tight and restricted) threatening us with having to pay for breakages (to the lawn?) But not so for noisy guests - or destructive ones - the children also made sunscreen greasy hand prints all over my dusty car. Slightly upsetting and not exactly hygienic too is the owners dog who relieved it self near our feet at the breakfast table.Really lovely location and views - we were looking forward to a leisurely breakfast - the hours on a Sunday are however strictly 6-8am - so great if you are an early riser. All in minus the noise I really like this place and absent too many options would stay again - but really would love to find a great option in Nelspruit on all levels…
As a family we have stayed there twice and on both occasions the hosts Ralph and Charlene were very spontaneous and organised. The rooms are clean, comfortable and good value for money. We prefer early breakfast (06:30) and was served by Charlene in a warm and friendly manner (especially it being a Sunday morning).
Mariu's is in an upmarket suburb with a beautiful garden and surrounds. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean and very well set out. The hosts are most friendly and helpful, however I was disappointed by the difficult cramped parking, one ply toilet paper and an old tube type TV in the room.
We always like to stay at Mariu's Guesthouse, visiting regularly from Maputo. Charlene and Ralph are very attentious, offering all kind of assistance imaginable. A warm place to stay, where you really feel as a welcome guest, not the least due to authentic personalities of Ralph and Charlene. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is a la carte, your car is securely parked in the garden, the showers are good etc.etc. A guesthouse with a soul. Ritchie & Luci, Maputo
We had such a lovely stay at this Guesthouse during InniBos Festival. The hosts are extremely friendly, warm and welcoming. One immediately felt at home. Rooms are very neat, comfortable and modern. The gardens are exquisite and if it was summer I would have been in that pool the whole day, it looked so inviting. The hosts go the extra mile, the air conditioner was already on and the room was nice and warm when we got back, and we bought a bottle of wine but didn’t had a corkscrew without asking when we got back the corkscrew was on the table with some biscuits. Definitely very good value for money; will go back without thinking twice.
