We spent a couple of nights at Blue Jay Lodge with Phil and Margi. Situated in Hazyview it was really convenient to entering Kruger Park via the Phabeni Gate. Phil is incredibly knowledgable about the area, providing great advice…prior to visiting SA communication by email was first rate and spot on! Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bed linen. We have travelled extensively in SA over a number of years and the breakfast at Blue Jay Lodge was up there with the best.
Amazing host, amazing place, perfect location, hospitality was brilliant , definitely recommended to be visited. Don't hesitate. Support with organizations with Safari, dinners and places that you have to see
Felt like I was in a 5 star hotel somewhere in Africa, simply amazing place with lovely hosts. Wish it were on a larger property, as there is so much potential, with a more appealing pool. Wish there were more breakfast options to cater for our diets. It is a pity that our country is failing small businesses and the tourism industry (due to load shedding etc.)
We stayed three nights at Blue Jay Lodge in September-October. The accomodation is GREAT, we enjoyed it so much. It is a beautiful place, very clean, amazing breakfast and Phil and Margi are very very friendly and helpful. Also the location is fantastic; the panorama route and Kruger are very close by. We also did rafting, which was really nice. And Hazyview is a nice place to go out for dinner. We can really recommend people to stay here!
This was our first stop in SA after a long drive from Johannesburg. I cannot be happier with the welcome we received from Phil and Margi. The venue is located perfectly between the Panoramic route and Kruger park. The room was very spacious, clean and every little detail was thought of. Breakfast is great and set between beautiful vegetation, trees and plants. Another thing we especially liked was how Phil took the time and offered us tips for our travel plans which helped us a lot.
I cannot say enough good things about Blue Jay. The owners are so kind and accommodating. They do everything in their power to make sure you have an amazing stay. This is about 15 minutes away from Phabeni Gate of Kruger park. There are also plenty of restaurant options in the area. The room has so many thoughtful touches. During load shedding certain lights in the room are still functional, as well as the ceiling fan. The breakfast is made for you individually when you sit at the table. If you are doing an early safari they pack you a nice breakfast to go in a lunchbox. If I ever find myself in the area I will absolutely stay at Blue Jay again.
We had such a great stay at Blue Jay Lodge! Phil and Margi were incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged our safaris for us which was super convenient. The rooms were lovely and the entire property was safe and quiet. We especially appreciated Phil and Margi’s recommendations for places to eat as it was our first time in South Africa! We drove in from Joburg to go to Kruger, so having a safe place to park was also wonderful. Breakfast was lovely and we would absolutely recommend staying here!
We were in Hazyview for the second time with Phil and Margi. And we were more than satisfied again. Very hospitable and helpful hosts, with many valuable tips and a delicious breakfast. Highly recommended accommodation very close to Kruger Park. Kind regards from Thomas, Yvonne, Frank and Anja
What a wonderful accommodation to stay in. We stayed in a self catering house. A small Paradise in Hazyview! Phil and Margi are always willing to help you. They give you good advice and the coffee/tea is always ready.
Very lovely B&B. Margi and Philip are really great hosts. They help you with everything and going the extra mile for you. For us was that one of the best, then not the best stay we got in south africa.
