Firstly there are no aircons and is very very hot. Then we had no hot water so could not bath or shower - weather changed and got very cold Our friends had no water whatsoever in their tent. Food was not wonderful especially dinner. Staff not very professional . I really don't know how this lodge gets a 4 star... More

What a wonderful lodge! Spending the night in the middle of beautiful nature, completely disconnected from the world (there is no wifi), was an extraordinary experience. The food is just amazing- be ready to eat a lot of very good food, but a lot lot lot and the safaries are amazing. You have to wake up early; at 5:30 but... More

We stayed two nights at Camp Shonga and found it great. The wooden tent-rooms are comfortable - if you consider that you are in the middle of the wilderness - well-furnished, with a king-size bed and a great view in front of you. Every "tent" has its own terrace where you can relax and enjoy the sun between one game... More

Unfortunately the experience at Shishangeni was not at all good for the following reasons: 1. The lodge we were meant to booked in at (Camp Shawu) apparently burnt down the previous week. Without any prior notification to us, either directly or via yourselves, we were simply told upon arrival that we would be accommodated at Camp Shonga. The manager at... More

This lodge is spectacular for the simple reason that you are disconnected from the rest of society during your stay, and you feel truly at one with nature. The lodge boasts 5 tented rooms, each en suite. A guard must escort you from the main reception to your room as this lodge is completely unfenced from the Kruger. The lodge... More

I was extremely disappointed with the experience. It was unkept, it had no electricity past 10 pm (they don't tell you about this), no wifi, toilet seat and you have to pay for every drink: water, soft drinks etc. The funny thing is that it is very expensive to stay here which makes me wonder where the money goes. Such... More

After having done a fantastic game lodge in another private reserve, we though the one could be the top to finish our trip in south africa. This was NOT ! At first we had to stay in camp shonga for 2 nights. When we arrived there, the tents were dirty and impossible to close properly and globally the camp is... More

We arrived at night and couldn't see much but the boardwalks. We did have a wonderful dinner and the food continued to be excellent. When we saw the camp, the next day, we realized that it was, indeed, a camp of 5 permanent tents isolated in the bush. We were able to see elephants grazing about half a kilometer aways,... More

Fantastic place for truly live the Kruger experience! Rooms, staff (Norman, you're the guy) breakfast with zebras and lunch with elephants. The ranger (Texan) who drove us troughout the 4 game drives we had was simply the best. No words to describe what he made us feel during these two days together. Strongly reccomended

We stayed at Camp Shonga in June 2014 and had the most traumatic experience on our return from an evening game drive. See our comments below: Firstly, I believe that the Shishangeni Lodge has a good safety record. We were booked into Camp Shonga for 4 nights, we slept there for 2 and the incident happened on the 3rd night... More
