We booked a perimeter bungalow and this was nicer than our previous accommodation in this rest camp. Rooms are basic and kitchen is outside. Rooms have comfortable beds and the AC worked well. As other travelers have mentioned maintenance appears to be lacking. There is always something that is not working well or needs replacement. That said, it is still...

We visited Satara rest camp at the end of October for 3 nights as two couples. Great camp but on our arrival we found that one of the aircons in our bungalow (D89) did not work. This was reported to the camp management and they then moved us to D86. The aircon here worked well but we found that not...

We booked way ahead so as to get a good location, and were not disappointed. Our bungalow was situated just steps from the perimeter fence which made for great game viewing both at night and in the early morning hours. The bungalows along the fence are rounded, so designed for maximum privacy on the patio. It was clean, safe, and...

Basic stay. But clean and a good place to stay for the night. The rondavels have airco, a fridge, a outside kitchen. It's a Quit place. The restaurant en shop are good. Not the cheapest in South Africa. In the restaurant we had WiFi. We left early and saw lots of animals. Satara is the best place for spotting cats....but...

If we had known that the area adjoining Satara was so rich in wildlife, we would have stayed more than one night ! The rest camp in itself boasts the usual good standards of the Kruger camps : swimming pool, restaurant, shop, comfortable accomodation... It lacks the amazing views of other camps but this is more than compensated by the...

Quiet, clean- again great place to spend the night after wild life viewing days. We went to Olifants camp for breakfast, seeing leopards and honey badgers on the way. So much wildlife. The night drive was interesting - civets, lions eating a baby hippo, lions mating, buffalo, leopard and elephants.

Clean room, shower, aircon, fridge, kettle, utensils, fridge. 15 yards from fence - perimeter rondavel. What mire could you want. African Wild Cat, vervet monkeys in camp, Lion roaring at night, Buffalo and Wildebeest seen from rondavel. Mugg and Beans or pizza place not the best in Kruger but edible. Had great fun with a BBQ - its an art...

I really enjoy this camp each time I visit. I am really happy to the upkeep of the camp is an ongoing process where the bungalows are being upgraded and well maintained. The rooms are perfectly kitted for its means specially for the temperatures in the park during summer. Take drives out into the surrounding bush to see a variety...

We stayed there on our toor to KNP, nice rooms, clean and confortable. Large camp and gets a bit confusing at the beging. Camp has a lot of boards showing what game where seen on the morning/night excursions. At nights you can hear and see the animals outside the camp.

Perfect place if you want a low budget stay and be inside the park. The bungalows are quaint and clean. There is a restuarant and a great store. You can self drive or even join the safari vehicle. They have an outdoor pool and theater area. My children loved this place. If your lucky you will see monkey & honey...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
