This was our first time actually staying at Satara and enjoyed it very much even thought it is very dry in the area at the moment and I pray they soon get lots and lots of rain. It was however an enjoyable adventure and again the staff at the camp are so special in the way they treat the visitors.... More

We only stayed one night and cooked for ourselves. The pool was a pleasant relief from the heat and the rondavel was comfortable. The game viewing was best south of Satara en route to Tshokwane. The shop is good. We didn't try the restaurant.

The last time we were here was in 1984. It was always one of our favourite camps in Kruger. We stayed in a large two bedroomed bungalow. It was clean, well equipped and spacious. It was great to watch the mongooses or is it mongi running around the camp. Lots of birds to watch too. Staff at reception were welcoming.... More

This camp have some really nice refurbished chalets. Very friendly staff and also extremely help full. When a problem occurred the camp manager himself help to sort it out. Very good service. Pity though that the lawn from years gone by have gone but I also understand that there was a very long drought for the past few years.

I'm surprised by some of the lower reviews. I loved the camp. The camp is excellent value, especially when you look at the private lodge prices adjacent to Kruger. Even though it was during a severe drought, our best sightings of the trip were around Satara. The huts are situated in circles, which was nice at night as you watched... More

Satara is situated around 100kms from Skukuza. H1-3 is an excellent road leading up to satara. It is much quieter than the terrible h4-1 which has more traffic than rush hour in Newcastle. Excellent chance of Lion sightings on this stretch from mantimahle right up to satara. The beauty part is there are very few osv's on this stretch. Camp... More

What a lovely camp. The bungalows had all utensils, were clean and serviced promptly each morning. Staff are friendly and there is a great vibe in the camp. Awesome stay. Will definitely return. The restaurants in the camp are also pretty awesome and the pricing very good.

Not up to the standard of lots of very good South African bed and breakfast places in this price range, but then they are not in the Kruger park. And that's where these places score. It is cheap accommodation with wildlife on your doorstep. Skukuza has a well appointed shop both for things you might need but have forgotten, torch,... More

First off, we loved the camp layout and how they have the store, a pizza place, and the Mugg and Bean Restaurant. We also liked our room, the Braai, the whole ambiance. However, one thing could be improved, and that is the cleanliness of the bungalow. Most of the bungalow was clean; however, the walls were splattered with unfortunate bugs... More

Although basic, the rondavels were clean and well equipped. We had brought utensils, dish towels and a few other items that weren't needed. The power went out here one night and we were glad we had flashlights/torches. This Mugg and Bean had the best service (of the ones we tried) and our waitress Patience was very helpful. It was cute... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
