This large, well established rest camp is positioned on a plain with no river frontage. The reception area, unlike those of Lower Sabie & Letaba, hasn't been upgraded recently & the restaurant is independently run, but not by Mugg & Bean (Lower Sabie) or Cattlle Baron (Skukuza), so it is rather limited in its offering. Disappointingly the take away section...

We slept in the wheelchair accessible bungalow. You can see they are newly renovated, and we enjoyed the cleanliness. The bathroom is however not practical and certainly wont correspond with regulations set by wheelchair associations. There is a hand rail above the toilet, which cannot be reached (never mind used), by a person is a wheelchair. The shower is accessible,...

Our room was adequate for what we paid for but I personally don't enjoy sleeping on stained bed linens. The room was quite large but the mustiness was so overpowering we didn't spend much time inside. Bathroom was fine- clean enough. You get what you paid for here.

Used one of the camping spots with our 4x4 mounted tent. Plenty spots available with complementary barbecue (very clean). Local shop plus of course the sightings overviews provide you with all you need. Swimming pool is a welcome refreshment in the searing heat in the Kruger park.

A visit to Kruger would not be complete without a stopover at Satara. The game opportunities there are great and we have never been disappointed. The newer revamped bungalows are the best. The shop is well stocked and a braai after sunset a must. Nocturnal visitors never disappoint us. Wild cat, genet and sometimes even a hyena and honey badger...

A beautiful camp to stop at. Nice shop and restaurant facilities. What is amazing is that the toilets were not working and there seemed no plan to try and resolve the problem despite the number of people visiting the camp

Stayed at Satara on two occasions from the 09/02- 11/02 and 26/02-01/03. The room was well maintained and well serviced. The camp is well maintained stayed in two different rooms and was impressed with both, the staff was friendly and met the camp manager who was doing his rounds to check the work that was done in the camp. The...

Nice restaurant choices, comfortable beds, cozy outdoor seating, well stocked store. Loved the morning Safari walk! The guides were very knowledgeable. ATM only works for SA bank cards. AC did not work in room.

One of the best camps in Kruger. Nicely situated in the middle, so there is many different options and routes to drive. Some of the best routes also in close proximety, so you will never run out of options. Love their caravan park. Try to get a stand close to the fence. Always a winner at night time when hyenas...

We had a rondavel on the perimeter #171. Right next to the fence. It was set forward a bit so no view of neighbours. We had various animals at the fence all night. What a treat. Room is rustic but clean. In need of an upgrade, its been like this since the 60's. The pool was filthy though... needs some...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
