Wide range of food, all good quality. I had fresh salads, my husband had meat dishes- all well prepared and presented. Wonderful view over Crocodile river. Clean, Busy. Lovely surroundings! The cost was more than you would pay if outside of Kruger, but still ok considering. Plenty of space to sit in sun or shade, ample restrooms. Service depended on...

As this camp is very central it is very popular and gets quite busy. There is always lots of game to see in the area which adds to its popularity. Unfortunately, I feel the camp management have let the standards slide with the ablution blocks and the rented huts. A lot of maintenance work needs to be done to bring...

This camp is great! Just in the right place for drives in all directions! All the camp facilities are perfectly matching your needs. It was our first time in Kruger and now have only great memories! Great views of the restaurant as well!

Location of the tent right next to the river is excellent. We saw a lot of game just from the deck. However, the tent is old and already torn in a few places. Repaired with wire but mosquitos are still able to enter through the big gaps.

I got up at 0330 and dressed quickly to get ready for the game drive at 0400. Imagine my disgust when I looked at the bed I'd just gotten out of to see what I thought were mouse droppings in the sheets I'd just slept in! We went to reception to complain about mouse droppings in our bed , on...

This camp in Kruger National Park has it all! Excellent position next to the Sabie river, friendly staff, sufficient shaded parking during off peak days. Well stocked park-shop. It us heartening to see big brands like Mugg and Bean give their renowned quality service in this camp. The only negative is that Mugg and Bean have the prime spot for...

We stayed for 1 night at Keartland Guesthouse. The villa has his own garden and prime views. It was a pity that we couldn't use the patio and garden as baboons were camping there . In the house on every window hangs a note with a warning to leave windows and doors closed and they even advise you to close...

If you can manage to snag one, I high recommend booking a "perimeter" safari tent. An excellent, affordable safari experience, with great views and plenty of comfort. It's nice having the restaurant -- also with great views -- available if you don't want to braai (the Mugg and Bean found was very cheap by international standards, and better quality than...

I loved this rest camp. There was so much wildlife here. Elephants, hippos, waterbuck, baboons all viewed from the deck attached to our tent. Lots of birds here as well. The tent had everything we needed however my husband preferred the rondavels in other camps we stayed at. It was wonderful for me falling asleep listening to lions roaring in...

Having stayed at other rest camps both in the Kruger and Addo N.P.'s we were very disappointed with the bungalow at Lower Sabie. Although it was relatively clean (except the table in the kitchen area which was dirty) the windows wouldn't shut properly so rattled all night as there was a storm, the mosquito frames were corroded and and lose...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lower Sabie graces the banks of the Sabie River, one of the few perennial rivers to flow through the Kruger National Park. Visitors cannot but feel soothed by the view towards the river and the Lebombo Mountains beyond. In this rest camp, the bounty and plenitude of nature are very evident, eloquently symbolised by the most conspicuous of its numerous trees, the mighty sycamore fig, which provides generously for the livelihood of many birds and insects. Not only do these giants produce fruit at least twice a year, but different trees produce fruit at different times, extending the gifts of life over many months. Watching the endless procession of animals coming to drink at the Sabie River establishes a sense of one's own place in the eternal cycle. ... more   less
