Thank you to all for making our 50 year reunion of classmates and spouses from our university graduating class both enjoyable and memorable. Accommodation was comfortable and adequate. The beautiful trees in the camp hosted a good variety of birds. We enjoyed the beautiful setting of the cafe and particularly impressed by the friendly service given by the staff. The camp is ideally located to access the diverse landscapes of the southern parts of the Park.

This was my 1st visit to Berg en Dal Camp on 10 Sept , previous stays at Satara & Orpen. This Camp is more modern with face brick accommodation . Some of the inside areas need some upgrades though. The braai area is really spacious with a table outside to eat or enjoy a coffee/drink with the bush really close by . There is a trail all along the fence for those who wish to take a peaceful 30-45min stroll. There is an onsite restaurant which is also close to the watering hole. I was a little disappointed that the watering hole was obstructed by overhanging trees . A little trim could make it so much more attractive for guests as well as improved lighting at night. Some improved signage could also help one find the way to the watering hole at night . Understandably to much lights spoils the bush experience , hence signage would make it easier to get around with a torch. The chalets have all the basic necessities & its a good base to explore the southern parts of the Kruger & only 12km from the Malelane gate for exiting the Park . Our stay was enjoyable & we will be back to see more as we had great game viewing along the road into the Camp

Berg en Dal is the first big camp of Kruger Camp if you enter from Malelane Gate (south). The camp is located around 30 min from this entrance so it is a good lunch spot only if you enter in the late morning in the park. The view is great, food is ok and service very slow.

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights, we had a self-catering house with 2 Bedrooms and 1 sleeper couch. The house also had a kitchen, a fireplace, and an outdoor table and some bar chairs in the kitchen. The building / house we stayed at itself was quite small, we had one double room (double bed), which was also the entrance to the house. Then we had a bedroom with 2 single beds and a medium-sized living room. Then we had a bathroom, which was separated over 3 rooms, (1: Sink and bath, 2: shower, 3: toilet) which made the living a bit easier for us as a family, as one could shower while the other could shave. You will need to bring your own food, as this is a self-catering place and the local shop doesn't have too much different food (small)

We stayed here for 3nights in a self catered house with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and outdoor cooking area (all private) and left very happy…. The house itself is quite small…one room with a double and one with 2 singles, a separate bath, shower and toilet makes Family life easier…big outdoor terrace to braai and good sized kitchen with all you need. Bring your food -the camp shop is good for small things but not family dinner….otherwise a good restaurant is also open ion site… Great area for game viewing, all in all a nice recommend if you don’t want to spend silly money on unnecessary luxuries in a lodge…

Our family of four including two kids (ages 8 & 10) loved Berg-en-dal Rest Camp. We had to get two cabins, but we spent most of our time outdoors. The kids loved the great pool, they loved the playground, and we all loved the Rhino Trail. We visited in July so the pool was chilly, but the kids didn't care. We saw a lot of animals on our drives in the area.

We stayed in one of the very well-equipped and comfotable cottages next to the boundary fence for 4 enjoyable nights. When we arrived two bush-buck were feeding on the lawn next to our entrance, and they and many birds including a noisy crested barbet visited every day as did a pair of nagapies (bushbabies) who entertained us with their agile leaps in and out of the trees nearby. The variety of wildlife nearby was superb; we saw lions, buffalo, elephant, several hyena at their lair, wild dogs (African painted wolves) numerous antelope and bird species.

I stayed in a BA3 bungalow and was happy with the bungalow and generally the camp’s facilities. As it’s a newer camp the room was fairly modern with brick construction and a reasonable size with the Kitchen inside and a braai on the large patio. The aircon was quiet and beds comfortable. There’s a Tindlovu restaurant on-site and although the menu is not as good as the Mugg and Bean or Cattle Baron restaurants in other camps, there’s a nice bar area with a large TV with DSTV. The staff were also really friendly and very efficient. The best aspect is that the restaurant is overlooking the Majulu river that has had a dam created at the camp. One afternoon I was fortunate to see a couple of Elephants swim over the river and climb the river bank on the fence line and start feeding on the lush vegetation against the fence in full view. There was also a Crocodile patrolling up and down. It made me debate whether to head out for an afternoon game drive or stay at the restaurant! Other camp facilities include the very informative Rhino hall display and a rhino walking trail around the camp. In summary I enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

Initially I was a bit reluctant to stay here for a few nights, always thought the game viewing was average and not to sure about the camp facilities - I was soooo wrong. The camp is clean and neat with good amenities. The pool is big and clean. The rhino trail inside the camp is excellent and so informative. The units we stayed in was very clean and well maintained. We had excellent sightings of nocturnal animals in the camp and really great sightings around the camp with 4 of the big five everyday and then off course the wild dog pack! This camp definitely became on of my favourites in the Kruger

One of my favourite rest camps in the Kruger National Park is Berg-en-Dal, which is conveniently close to the Malelane gate. We stayed in one of the bungalows which was spacious and had everything we needed, however we have also previously camped here and can highly recommend it as the plots are nicely laid out and you are almost guaranteed of getting a spot with shade which is great especially during the summer. And when it gets really hot you can also make use of the pool which I think is one of the best compared to the other camps' pools. The pool area is also a good option for parents with kids as there is a small kiddies pool as well as a playground. The main lodge has a very nice curio shop, a restaurant (beautifully rebuilt after the fire they previously had) and even a small museum with the main focus being rhinos. There are numerous hiking trails within the camp and the staff are some of the friendliest within the park. I have had very good wildlife sightings while staying here and whether you are starting or ending your Kruger journey here, it doesn't matter - you will leave with fond memories of Berg-en-Dal.
