It's just all you hope for: Wonderful rooms, great hosts and food and unique visites of the birdlife of the area. Wilderness is a great place to stay when you do the Gardenroute. If you can, try to be there on a saturday, so you can enjoy the very nice farmersmarkets in George and Sedgfield. Sue and Phil will give... More

This is the best place to suit your every need, mood or desire. Too stressed to do anything energetic? Relax by the pool & listen to the birds in the forest or watch the sunbirds in the flowers in the garden. You may even see some of the local wildlife, blackbuck perhaps, wandering into the garden from the forest. Feel... More

I had a most pleasant stay at the Kingfisher Country House and the hosts were most helpful and polite. The delicious morning breakfast was made most memorable by the sight of at least eight Knysna Loeries in the adjacent tree. The location is very peaceful with no traffic noise at all.

Kingfisher is a beautiful house surrounded by a lovely garden located in a natural forest. The rooms are large, comfortable, very clean, and very beautiful. The hosts, Sue and Phil, are very warm and welcoming, and give feeling of family right away. We booked for one night, but 10 minutes after we arrived, decided we want another night in paradise,... We spent three nights with Sue and Phil in early September as part of a birding & sightseeing trip in South Africa and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Their place is quaint and extremely comfortable (we loved having the electric blankets for the cool nights), and Sue went out of her way to give us advice on where to find certain... More

We had a truly wonderful and relaxing few days here with Sue and Phil who are friends of my mother's from many years back. The beds were comfortable and warm despite the chilly weather. Our hosts made every effort to make us comfortable and relaxed, as well as suggesting numerous thins we could do. The best was the breakfast times... More

I was leading a birding tour around the Western Cape, and Kingfisher Country Lodge was comfortably the best spot we stayed at. Not only are the rooms homely, spacious, and well attended to, but the birdlife is just incredible. You don't have to be a birder to appreciate these kinds of close encounters. Knysna Turacos, Chorister Robins, Waxbills, Sunbirds, Doves,... More

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Kingfisher Country House. Sue and her husband went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the verandah while watching the birds at the feeders. Kingfisher Country House is ideally situated for birders looking to find the unique birds... More

This is a lovely place to stay. I booked to stay there with my friends - Kevin and Lin - from England. Breakfast on the verandah was a great experience, as dozens of different types of birds, including Knysna Touraco (Lourie), came to feed from the bird tables hanging in the tree five feet from us. It was a great... More
