We had a wonder full time in this Lodge, but I don't why they say it's a lodge because all I saw it was a hotel standard. Sihle the receptionist, gave us advices and recommend very nice places to visit. He was professional, helpful and very friendly and also Ayanda the waiter has done a good job for the excellent service, she always... I spent one night in this hotel last week on a short business visit to Richards Bay. The hotel is still under construction which was a bit inconvenient and the rooms are 'new', but best described as functional. The redeeming feature of this hotel was the friendly & helpful staff.

The outside of the lodge looks more like a residential apartment block. But inside the reception and lobby area are small but inviting. The staff are friendly. The breakfast was fine but not memorable. There is no view but the small garden areas visible from inside the hotel seem landscaped.

My first stay in PROTEA HOTEL RICHARDS BAY.. We really enjoyed the quiet and peace that the area offers as a whole.. The hotel itself offers neat clean rooms , beds are comfortable with neat bathroom facilities. The buffet breakfast was good but a greater variety would be most welcome. One hiccup however was that we had to pay first and... More

I stay here 3 nights for business purpose on Dec-2015. Here is calm place to stay and take a rest for guests. Also I can enjoy the hospitality of local people. The breakfast is a little bit weak but I'm OK cause of I ate only coffee and few bread, fruits. Sometimes they got order from you in the morning,... More

Maybe I should not be too harsh on the hotel as it is located in what purports to e a waterfront tourist location and presents itself just a boring city happening to be on the coast. While the staff was nice and kind and helpful, the internet did not work - Always - On service is practically Always-Off, the shower... More

I was booked in Protea Hotel Richards Bay in October 2015. I cannot believe the poor service I received from the hotel. When I was about to sleep, I realised that there was a terrible noise in my room. I was not sure what was causing the noise but it was like a motor. I didn't know whether it was... More

The location is very central. The hotel is excellent. The room was very well kept and serviced. The food (breakfast and dinner) and soft drinks were great with a variety of choices with very friendly and accommodating staff, asking about my every need. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
