Outside of town Hluhluwe River Lodge is off GPS mapping, down a narrow, dirt path (4 wheel drive recommended). There are individual tents with very large decks, set in the forest with vervet monkeys coming through camp. Our tent/cabin #11, was very large and comfortable. The food was delicious (lemon chicken or filet, a to die for chocolate lava cake,...

We stayed in Mkulu's House which is the Zulu word for Grandfather. What a delightful place. It was the two bed roomed home with its own private entrance( down a little sandy stretch of road) and swimming pool in the indigenous garden. I could have gladly moved in permanently for the good selection of books and periodicals. And of course the views of...

Stayed at the lodge between 18-21 April. The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious (we used a family chalet). The staff were very friendly and helpful with giving us information about what we could do in the area, and assisting us in booking a hippo and croc boat trip. The food, specifically the dinners, though limted in option, were very...

We stayed at Hluhluwe River lodge over this Easter Long Weekend, we stayed in the Honeymoon Chalet which was nice and spacious, has both shower and a bath. Breakfast and Dinner although limited options were very tasty and staff were friendly. They light a fire at dinner time which makes for an awesome atmosphere :-) We were out on game...

We were staying at a different game farm and were exploring the area. We came across this river lodge. It's a very quiet season. They do not get many South African tourist mainly international tourists. We wanted to go on a river cruse but unfortunately there is currently a very bad drought. The desk clearly told us to come in...

We could not fault the staff or the food or the positioning, all very good there. The downside of this whole complex is the lodge 2 that we were in was so grubby and dated, the room needed a damn good steam cleaning !! Little things like holes in the mosquito net , gecko poo falling from the ceiling and...

The "sweeping views of False Bay" are a complete overstatement. There is a small view in the distance between and over the trees. Absolutely no management presence which meant things like noise from the kitchen during dinner went unchecked. There are no facilities on site. If you want to walk or see False Bay, you have to drive and pay...

Our first time in Hluhluwe, and what a great way to do it - at Hluhluwe river lodge. Service and food of the utmost standards. Beautiful scenery and accommodation, and the host Leslie made the stay even more memorable with his big smile and friendly conversation.

Visited the Hluhluwe River Lodge with a business associate from Paris for a weekend. My room was like a chalet tastefully decorated, spacious and most comfortable. Staff warm and friendly. The dinner and breakfast was sumptuous and we sat by the fire one evening chatting to guests from Europe. We booked a night spider walk with a professional guide and...

This is one of the best places we have stayed on our travels in South Africa. It is off the beaten track but when you arrive at the main gate you have 1.2 Kilometer drive through the bush to the lodge(its like being on Safari). What a fantastic start. The Lodge is quite basic but very clean and comfortable. The...
