Oh my word - this was a holiday I will never forget. We spent this last Easter (13th - 17th April, 2017) at Tussen-I-Bome in an ox wagon it was a real "Voortrekker experience". Our camp was in a lagger which included 2 tents and an ox wagon, bathroom and separate toilet enclosed by reeds. We boiled our bath water...

We stayed over in one of the oxwagons, and what a great experience it was! Our little son enjoyed it so much too! Our hosts, Gerhard and his lovely wife Vilma made us feel so much at home, whilst tending to all our needs and giving so much advice on the authentic way of baking bread etc. We did everything...

We had a lovely week-end @ Tussen-i-bome, staying in an ox-wagon camp, very primitive having to boil water on fire to bath in a barrel, boil water on gas/fire for coffee in morning, mainly cooking on fire as no other appliance beside a gas bottle, really took one back to the days of our fore-fathers, not for everyone, but a...

Hi, Thank you so much for your review. Ox-wagon stay is very different, a real 'bucket list experience'. They are also our most popular units and are fully booked most week-ends. We fear that by putting in more modern facilities - something of the authenticity may be lost. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and hope...

If you want to live in the bush, then this is the place to go, however, there is NO fridge and you cannot close the ox-wagon sides and the bugs and mosquitos are a serious problem to contend with. A very different experience - Voortrekker style. Not cost effective.

We are so sorry that the Bush veld experience did not live up to its expectations for you. The heat wave that was experienced also did not help . Thank you for the pointers that you gave us - we will see how we can improve - mosquito nets and insect repellent. Feedback from our guests are always valuable to...
