A nice place top stay. Very friendly and helpful staff that will make your stay very pleasant and for sure you will remember it. They helped me in everything I needed and it was a lot. If you go to Joburg this is the place to stay in.

Staff pointed us to a delicious bakery down the street, and to a store where I could get the adapters I had been looking for. They served tasty dinner and breakfast, and they served drinks also downstairs. In the evening, our group sat around the communal table and enjoyed ourselves greatly. Beds were fine, I slept great in the communal...

We had a great stay at this cute garden hostel. Steven, Peter, and Gavin were delightful and helped direct us to nearby art galleries and bakeries, and the food was delicious! They have both private and dormitory-style group rooms.

Overall great experience. The staff were hospitable but not overbearing. The rooms were comfortable and clean. When the electricity went out, they lit candles and used a generator to keep making us hot meals. Excellent service!

As part of a university trip with 14 students, we stayed at the Backpackers Ritz in July of 2016 and had a grand time. Delicious meals, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and a hilarious staff! Great for students, families or backpackers.

Honestly, this was the first time that I've every stayed in a hostel and I was delighted. The garden is lovely, the folks who run the place are hilarious, and the environment was safe and homey. Staff made an effort to learn the names of all 17 guests traveling in my group, and made everyone feel at home and comfy....

A very nice place with friendly and helpful staff. Rascal the dog was so cute! It was great that it had a nice garden, pool and trampoline. I will definitely be back next time I travel to South Africa. Can't wait to go back!

I stayed a few weeks ago with my children. The place was basic but clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the kids loved the pool and the garden (it was very hot!). Steven made us a fantastic evening meal - thank you! And the bakery a few minutes walk away is lovely.

Average hostel far from everything with a tinny downstairs bar. However its located in a posh área near a posh shopping mall. Staff is friendly most of the time but most south africans are like that. By the way joburg is such a hipster city nowadays, its worth visiting so Dont skip the city.

I have been to many backpackers in SA and around the world. This is not a backpackers..its more like you staying at a random persons house. No bar, no vibe, terrible beds, no toilet paper. Doors with holes in them. The place has potential but they need to jack it up.
