The pictures on the website were very inviting and the decor looked stunning. I must say that this was not quite the same in reality. The house is very old and could really do with some work. The entrance hall is dark, walls painted in dark colours and my room was also very dark. It was also challenging to open...

I live in Joburg, but often need to accommodate clients or recommend a place to stay to like minded creative people from all over the world. Ilali has become the place to stay for some really great artists, writers, Journalists, film producers and 'other interesting people'. Well located in the Art Gallery district, not far from the Gautrain, and within...

Staying here for the second time and think this will become my home away from home. Great rooms, very spacious. Beautifully decorated - colourful and fun and very tasteful. Best beds and lovely linens. Massive bathrooms with great products. Beautiful breakfast and staff. Close to wonderful restaurants. Well priced.

Stayed with Hania in May, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Great location, beautiful rooms and grounds, helpful suggestions on sightseeing, and delicious breakfast. I usually stay a large hotels for work and personal travel, so I was delighted that Ilali House was just as comfortable but many times more special. I would love to stay here...

Stayed there in January 2013 during a business trip. A very nice and silent place (although located in a busy part of JNB). Hannia was very supportive and I felt welcome all the time. The inner courtyard is a very relaxing place inviting you for a drink or a chat. I'm pretty sure where to stay in this city next...

An enchanted garden lies behind an unimposing wall and within lies a calm, restorative home from home. Hannia and her team ensure that your needs are taken care of in a reassuring and understated manner. Convenient location, great restaurants and bars in the area and within easy reach of the Gautrain station for Rosebank.

Hannia has renovated a typical small charming house in Parkmore (close to Rosebank and Parktown North shops and restaurants) into a beautifully designed oasis. While on a busy street, they have taken great pains to shelter the guesthouse from noise. Beautiful rooms, free WiFi, delicious breakfast and Tracey, one of the nicest and most thoughtful staff I have ever encountered....

I am almost reluctant to share this gem of a place. Well located in one of Johannesburg's better neighborhoods, near several galleries, good shopping, Although near a major thoroughfare, Ilali guest house is a quiet sanctuary. The decor is modern, fun and colorful, the breakfasts are plentiful and served in a sunny dining room by Tracy the very helpful assistant....

Apart from the gorgeous ecclectic decor and friendly staff, it is hard to beat Ilali's central location in the heart of Joburg's old leafy suburbs. I loved the fact that the hip and trendy Parktown North restraurants and shops were within walking distance from the guest house and it was easy to navigate from Ilali to the rest of my...
