This is a tented lodge. VERY upscale and fabulous. The staff are excellent, the accommodations to die for and the meals very good. Our ranger was very good. There were 20 of us and everyone loved the whole experience. Your every need is taken into consideration. The beds are large and comfortable. Some tents (and these do not seem like tents!)... More

We had the most amazing time at shamwari game reserve and especially in bayethe lodge! Wonderful "tents" our ranger "mino" was the best! He knew so much and gave us the best sightings! Mating or roaring lions and bathing elephants! Even a night game was not to much for this crazy indian ranger! Thank you so much for the amazing... More

We spent 2 nights at Bayethe Lodge and had an incredible experience staying in the luxury lodge. The game drives were brilliant, and an unforgettable experience. Our ranger, Rhynhardt, was extremely knowledgeable and couldn't have done more for us, and wanted us to see as much wildlife as we could.… and we did! Staff at the lodge were very friendly.... More

I cannot speak more highly of Shamwari Bayethe Lodge. We were there in October of 2016. Spectacular "tents", so comfortable, so well designed, so beautiful to look at, so spacious. Wonderful food, wonderful service, amazing guides. Our guide, Hedman, was so in tune with the savannah animals, and also very in tune with the human being animals. If you come... More

I debated for some time before giving Shamwari Bayethe Lodge only 3 stars. Please let me explain, I'm sure all the other 5 star reviews are correct and talking to other guests there at the same time as us they had an amazing time, but to be true to trip advisor I have to rate on our personal experience not... If you really want to see animals in South Africa, your best bet is to find them behind fences: either in a National Park or in a private game reserve. Shamwari is arguable the finest private game reserve in the country. Nearly 100 square miles of former farmland which has been repurposed to host most of the native species which... More

I had no idea what to expect, and Bayethe Lodge and the entire Shamwari Game Reserve absolutely bowled me over. Everything was top notch and done perfectly by talented and very personable staff. The "tents" were nicer than the condo where I live -- think wood floors, comfy beds, great heaters/AC units, beautiful rock floors in the absolutely huge bathroom... More

The lodge itself is lovely. Clean, spacious, and in my opinion, perfectly in character. The individual "rooms" (tents, to be precise) are huge! Private, comfortable, welcoming. I slept quite soundly, and enjoyed a warm afternoon sunning by my plunge pool, sipping on some champagne. How can you beat that? The food is quite good, and varied! I enjoyed the vegan... More

We recently returned from a four day three night stay at Shamwari, and flawless is the best superlative adjective I can come up with. Everything was perfect from arrival to departure.
