The Talkeetna Hostel is great! I am a mountain guide and come here in between backpacking trips. I always look forward to coming out of the back country and coming to the hostel because the people are great and it is a welcoming and fun environment. It is always very clean, filled with kind people, and lots of character. I...

The host was nice and sweet and there were complimentary beer in the back yard. The kitchen was open and available as were complimentary tea and coffee. However, the place has not been cleaned for seasons. All three bathrooms had very dirty floors, full garbage cans, and hairs everywhere. We found a used tampon on the floor of the one...

Kimia, I'm so sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with your experience. I can assure you, I spend hours every day cleaning the house, so I am really disappointed to hear it didn't look great when you arrived. I was down in Wasilla picking up some hostel supplies and got back in town shortly before you checked in, and that...

Everything in town was booked. The hostel was closed for the season. Called the owner Colleen and with no hesitation she welcomed us. Comfy, friendly clean hostek. I will always stay here when in Talkeetna

As it was the end of the season, Colleen (the owner) was not around but she left us some instructions and she also upgraded us to family room instead dorm! Rooms are beautiful and beds confortables, she provides sheets nd towels. Shared areas are good equiped and you have coffee...

Stayed here for two nights recently. Actually, the beds were taken so we pitched a tent in the backyard, BUT had an amazing time. The hostel itself is comfortable - nothing fancy but it has everything you need plus a few extras (free snacks, clean warm towels, lots of showers for the size). There's a big comfy living room, kitchen,...

I stayed there with my son on August 2015, we initially thought about camping but were too tired so stayed in the bunks in one of the rooms. Nice little place, with several options to stay one can even camp and still use the facilities of the house, note that other places charge extra for that. I loved that everything...

This is beyond than hostels, the little gem for climbers to Denali, home away from home. The house is decorated so well from the crafts all over the world. It's worth $26 for clean bed, all day pop corn, coffee, tea and chocolate, and wifi with easy walk within a mile to downtown. Colleen is super nice and very warming...

What a refreshing and welcoming stay we had at this hostel. Colleen the manager is super friendly and accommodating and clearly works hard to ensure guests have a great stay. We found the rooms clean and comfortable and quiet. We would highly recommend this hostel.

Upon initial contact Colleen makes your stay very warm and welcoming. It's really clean and organised - stickers everywhere in where to put every utensil. There's something nice about a place when you see people leaving their personal belongings about in bathroom and living room. Also everyone willing to share and help each other here. Colleen even accommodated my wish...

My husband and I stayed at the Talkeetna Hostel for a night during our travels through Alaska. We had been tent camping, but when it was time to set up the tent, it was raining. Colleen offered us her private room and only charged us the two bunk price. What a wonderful experience we had as we listened to three...
