It was only a really short stay but we totally enjoyed it and can 100%ly recommend this lodge to other travelers! The hostel/hotel/lodge is really clean and the owner is friendly and sociable. He gave us tips and we had a chat about secret places in the surroundings. :-) (Also they've got a lovely dog with the nicest character that... More

Thank you for your comments. "Woody" is our young, smallish dog who arrived shortly after we lost our two old faithful Labradors. He has been with us a while now and loves everyone. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Tasha. More

Our stay at Dakune Lodge was our best in the North Island. It is a wonderful place to relax. The hosts were incredibly kind and enjoyable to talk with. The value far exceeded the modest cost. The linens were nice, the bed and common areas were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped.

Dakune Lodge is absolutely the best place we've stayed. The owners, Nic and Tascha, are very friendly and welcoming, and you almost feel like it's your own home. We were there for three night and had a wonderful time. The facilities are great, HUGE kitchen, dinning and living room and a big communal terrace as well. The rooms are nice... More

When you come back after completing the Tongariro Crossing or a long day mountain biking it is great to soak tired muscles in our spa pool or relax on the deck with a beer or a glass of wine. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at daKune Lodge - and we would love to see you back anytime. Thanks for... More

Stayed here twice, each time leaving very early (whanganui river and tongoriro crossing, always spotlessly clean, great showers and cool communal areas and balcony. Cannot believe the value too here in summer! We hope to be back again!

After one night in Ohakune where we felt like sleeping on the highway we moved to a new place which felt like heaven. Dakune lodge is located in a very remote area surrounded by beautiful nature. The rooms are very convenient and the lounge and terrace just gorgeous.

daKune Lodge is located at the end of a no exit road so we don't get the noise of traffic, and with the gardens and our pets it does bring you a gentle experience. Thanks you for your kind review. Tasha. More

We took a group of 20 or so people which were comfortably contained within the rooms. Facilities were amazing for games, spa, walks, BBQ, drinks and nibble. Early morning breakfast with top notch espresso onsite. Thanks for being great hosts and allowing us to celebrate a hard year at work!

The downstairs bunk room is mainly overflow during the summer, and it is purely luck when a group book the Lodge, as to who gets allocated which room by the organiser. We usually ask people to keep quiet after 10pm in consideration of other guests. Thanks for your review. Tasha. More

20 of us from work used the lodge as a base for the Tongariro Crossing. The facilities were great, and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Great place! Not cheap compared to other bbh hostels in NZ (30$ after bbh discount), but includes a whole lot: free 1GB wi-fi, free jacuzzi & sauna, an incredibly well-equiped kitchen, free modest breakfast, free laundry. Cozy wooden walls and very friendly staff. Highly reccommended after wet canoeing down the Whanganui river.

We booked out the lodge for Labour weekend to meet up with Wellington friends. We were a large group of adults and children. The lodge was very clean, in a lovely relaxed setting, and delicious eggs Benedict cooked by the friendly helpful hosts. Eggs supplied by the hens roaming the grounds. Excellent value for money. Comfortable beds and clean bathrooms.... More
