Loved our 5 day stay here. Clean , comfortable, great food, and best of all the most helpful friendly owners who even provided 2 wonderful evening meals. Highly recommend this place- one of the best stays I've had in a long time.

Very nice place. The lodge is a bit hard to find, it's right at the end of the road and there are a few other ones that look a little like it on the way in. As soon as we got here they welcomed us. Very friendly owners. There is a very nice spa, I recommend using it to everyone....

Thanks very much for your feedback. The Wifi here is free however you do need to ask for the guest access code. One of the benefits of being at the end of the road is that it is away from the traffic noise and safe for kids to play. Tasha.

Went here last year Oktober when the season pretty much ended. I came just for the Crossing, but I made the right choiche! Because it was quiet the owner gave us our own room (was here with my mom) and made us feel like it was our own home! Beautiful place, very clean and the owner had Some great advice...

Dakune lodge impressed us from the moment we walked in. The building is stunning and our hosts were lovely. The breakfast was free and good and the evening playing board games over the fire were simply perfect. Thanks again for making our stay in Ohakune some homely!

The most beautiful hostel I've been so far. Friendly, clean, well equipped kitchen, such comfortable rooms, there is nothing bad to say! For a backpacker, it's one of the expensive ones, but every cent is worth it! Eat two times less in McDonald's and cook for yourself in dakune! ;-)

We are glad you came back to stay another night because you forgot your shoes, ... and by pure luck you got a free Kiwi experience holding a kiwi in the bush. So glad you will take that memory home with you. Thanks for the great review. Tasha.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Dakune Lodge. It was comfortable, clean, warm with great showers and a lovely little spa too. Our hosts were very friendly and accomodating, going well beyond the call of duty to make our stay a memorable one for us and our two children. The kids loved the many fish and the cuddly dog....

What a lovely review, Thanks you. We enjoyed your company too ... especially the girls when they helped me to replant all the large pots on the deck. Tasha.

Stayed for 3 nights with our two young boys and they had a great time. Great rooms, clean and spacious communal lounge and dining - helpful hosts and really enjoyed the home cooked evening meal one evening. Will definitely return in the future.

Dakune Lodge has excellent communal areas, great hosts and good bathrooms. They also provide meals (costs extra) and the breakfast was excellent. As a light sleeper, my only criticism was the noise at night when people were moving around in a creaky wooden building.

Thank Jill_Oxted
Nicolas C, Owner at Dakune Lodge, responded to this review

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to remedy the creaking ... One of the joys of a large wooden building (Lockwood) but I hope it didn't disturb you too much. It is much more noticeable in the summer with a large temperature difference between day and night than in the winter. Thank you for your review ... we do...

A wonderful place ! A nice place built totally in wood ! A nice breakfast, nice share kitchen and bathrooms. Only 2mn by car to the town center and 25mn to the Tangariro Crossing departure Point. A relaxing place to stay in Ohakune.
