This property is situated on Samudra beach in Kovalam. This hotel has good lawns, pool etc. The beach is approachable from the lawns. But rooms are damp and smelly. Initially we booked a deluxe room but it was small, smelly so we shifted to suite. It's actually a single room with a separate sitting area. Nice view of beach from the window. Bathroom is big with shower enclosure & bathtub. Adequate supply of towels & toiletries. Now the negatives; the biggest drawback is the quality of food. Never seen worst Buffet breakfast than this place. Virtually nothing worth eating except for omelette. Even toast were cold & chewy. I had dinner once & regretted every minute. Food was laden with green chillies. Atleast 5 or 6 chillies in a serving of dal. Raita was also having same amount of green chillies. So do not attempt to eat there. Rather go to nearby shacks & restaurants where food is tasty & reasonably priced too. About the location, the hotel is on samudra beach wihich is barely 200 meter long & completely deserted. No activity, no life guards nothing. All the activity is at Kovalam beach which is 5 km away. So do not get deceived by kovalam in address. It's not on Kovalam beach. Overall if you want a peaceful holidays, not much interested in taking a dip. Prefer to stroll on the beach & lawns this place is for you. Just stay away from their kitchen else have a generous dose of antacids with you.

The location of the hotel isn’t very far from Thiruvananthapuram airport and is perfectly surrounded by green lush gardens and a calm and peaceful beach which is considered to be private by KTDC Samudra hotel. No words can describe of how beautiful the whole property is. People at front desk, housekeeping, IRD are very helpful and will try to accommodate your request as much as possible. If possible try to ask for a room on first floor, they give a beautiful view. Rooms have balconies.
Positives : • hotel has a special entry gate only for their guests to have access to Samudra beach • breakfast buffet has many options to choose from • food ordered from in room dining is tasty
Few inconveniences that I faced : • No hot water in the shower or bathroom • the minibar made noise sometimes. I had to switch it off one night to sleep • wi fi in the room wasn’t working most of the times • TV had only regional channels
I could manage with these inconveniences as well. I stayed for 2 nights. If peace and nice service is what you are looking for, this is the place.

The hotel's location is very good, you can view and hear the sea waves from the room's balconies. Apart from rooms there are many selfie points with sea or gardens, hammocks. The green gardens, cleanliness are very refreshing. The rooms were well maintained and amenities were good. I was told that the hotel was under maintenance and will be full functional by March, hopefully it will further improve the stay and fun for the guests. The staff was polite and prompt. The restaurant with it requires improvement.

Beautiful property spread out over a huge area dotted with coconut trees , just beside the beach where one can enjoy the sound of waves crashing along the shore. We had a first floor sea facing room with a balcony. Adequately furnished, however, they provide a single mattress on the floor without a cot, for the third occupancy. Although, we spent most of the time outside the room on the resort grounds where hammocks are strategically placed so that one can enjoy the sea view and breeze, so did not really mind it that much. It also has a well maintained medium sized pool overlooking the sea.
The restaurant also offered a good menu for dinner. We went for some local dishes like the malabar chicken biryani, kozhi porichattu etc. However the breakfast spread was a little underwhelming.
The staff at the front desk was polite and helped us with our local travel queries. The hotel is located just 5 minutes from the Kovalam lighthouse which offers impeccable views of the sea. Overall, we had a good stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights and I must say the location is just amazing. We reached there in evening and it seemed a bit too dull. But the next morning when we came out of our room we were greeted with cool breeze and the wonderful scenic beach right in front of us with waves crashing into the rocks. It's a sight to behold. Their breakfast buffet is good. Lunch and dinner buffets were simply fantastic and considering the spread they gave it was worth every penny. The only complaint was the rooms are not upto the mark . Rest everything was 5/5. Recommended

We stayed in Delux room 301 in the second week of March..the room has both poolview and seaview..when we stepped out of the room there was small sitting area and next step you were in lawn. .. one side was swimming pool and other side lawn followed by beach. Awesome.. When you step out of the room you feel that you are in a different world..You can listen the sounds of waves from your balcony itself.. Beach is in the backyard of the resort..the beach is almost like a private beach (away from the crowd ) Well maintained lawns and landscaped area spotted with rocks and coconut trees..Hammocks are very less..please provide some more.. KTDC properties always has an advantage of their unique location.. Staff were very helpful and friendly..Check in and check out were smooth but no Welcome drink on arrival.. Rooms are clean but the interiors , specially the Furniture looks very old and needs urgent renovation..No continues hot water in the bathroom.. Food was very average , not up to the mark .. if they improve in this area , KTDC Samudra will be the best in Kovalam..There was no a la carte option for Dinner, if you want a la carte option .. order for Room dining service.. We enjoyed the location and absolute value for money..

KTDC Samudra is a Beautiful property with abundance of Calmness and serenity as its hallmark!
Pros: 1. Lovely location with a Private beach: Amazingly clean, private beach cordoned off by big rocky backdrop. Such personal space for a clean beach in Kerala is a rarity. Families surely enjoy it to the maximum. 2. Peaceful property with Green landscaping: Tranquility 24*7 with only sound of waves in backdrop. Lovely green landscaping sprawling all across the property. Rooms are only simply furnished but view, cleanliness and courteous staff covers it all. 3. Food: Vegetarian North Indian options are good and tasty. Another USP is Sanjeevani Restaurant has a Private walk-through option within the property itself. Amazing varierty of Vegetarian North Indian options, my family enjoyed it as the best North Indian foor across whole Kerala. Tasty curries and Fresh juices with a Chef with a personal touch for all guests! 4. Travel desk: Quite helpful with Courteous drivers for travvel within or outside the city 5. Swimming pool: Is good enough with clean water. Families surely would love it!
Cons: 1. May be Room furnishings could be improvised further if its not going to alter the ambience of the property.
Overall: Refreshing unexpected experience!

Sadly the end of the tour but we did have three nights here to compensate. The hotel is very good albeit a bit tired in places but the rooms were of a good standard but bathrooms were a tad tired. Odd that there were "save water" stickers everywhere but the basins didn't have plugs - there was a bare light bulb in the shower though! All forgiven though when you could see the Indian Ocean from the balcony. The outside pool was very good, clean with plenty of towels and loungers plus a life guard. The restaurant offered a good selection at all meals and staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a guarded back entrance that gave access to the beach and a short walk to the town. Be careful with room choice though; we didn't really pay attention on check in but noticed afterwards that the first rooms we had been allocated (the hotel changed this at registration without us saying anything) were close to the main entrance. Strangely the garden rubbish point was under the balconies of these rooms - grass, plants etc. and did "pong" a bit. Lucky escape!

Renovation work going on.. Mosquitoes in room..the house keeping did not provide mosquito repellent inspite of asking them. We ordered for milk and were provided milk in hot water..food was below average. No security for the rooms as renovation work going on. Not worth the amount of RS. 4460 which they charged.

Sorry I have never stayed there at New Year. I didn't rate the food there we only ever had breakfast there and the standard of services was not good. I thought there was poor management throughout.
The rooms were clean and the location is excellent with the beach right in front of the hotel.
It's a short trip to the resort and lots of very good restaurants.
I hope this is helpful.
Not at all. this property is not effected by flood. there is no flood in Trivandrum. The roads from Airport & Railway station are very much safe to travel.
