Detailed Reviews
I have been staying here since the late 1980s, when it was only two stories. For 15 years my wife, my son and I, have always chosen to stay here when in Kovalam. It's a simple choice. Very nice location near to the quieter beach, just to the south of Kovalam. Yet close to the main beaches with all their array of shops and restaurants.
What can you expect: excellent staff, led by the very effcient Manager Charles: spectactular views across to the lighthouse and out to sea; a spotless room every day; breakfast on your balcony if you wish; the sound of the sea (do bring earplugs if you want more quietness); easy access to auto rickshaws to transport you to other delights; a helpful travel agent across the road etc.
I don't like air conditioning, so I like the fans to cool me down a little. If you do like sub zero temperatures in India, then this wonderful hotel will not be for you. Penthouse is amazing.
Looking forward to our next stay at the Aparna - didn't really want to leave it!

Have just spent six wonderful weeks at this lovely hotel. Every member of the staff could not be more helpful. I have stayed in 5 star hotels where the level of cleaning are not as good as you receive in this establishment. Don’t want to repeat all the other reviews but if your looking for a well priced hotel in a great location you won’t find better.

I have stayed here on many occasions over 30+ years. I'm not into luxury. I am into good location, cleanliness, good views, nice helpful staff, breakfast delivered to the balcony, airport pickup, comfortable beds, good sized bathroom etc. On top of this, it remains good value for money.
All this is why guests return again and again.
If you are a fan of air-conditioning, this hotel will not be for you. Personally, I don't like air-con. I prefer fans. The waves can be noisy, so I wear ear plugs and sleep like a baby.
I think it's simply a great small hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. Satyan is a brilliant owner and the service and cleanliness is second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. The view from my balcony was stunning and I fell asleep listening to the waves every night - total bliss! I will be back!

The hotel is absolutely lovely, extremely clean and 3 min walk from the beach. The rooms are nice and the people working there try to look after you as much as possible. It's a great value for money! Absolutely the best choice!!

We have been regular visitors here for over 10 years which should indicate how much we like it! This could well be the cleanest hotel in India. The rooms are well appointed and spotless. The linen and towels are changed every day. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Charles is a mine of information about cricket! Stay here if you love listening to waves breaking on the shore. There is a beach 2 minutes away but take care when swimming.

My wife and I have spent a month here, each year, over the past ten years. We have never been disappointed. The friendliness of the staff, the location and the great weather always make our holiday special. The rooms are serviced each day and most of them have superb views of the Arabian Sea. The Kovalam beaches are within easy walking distance and the interesting town of Vizhinjam, with it's bustling fishing port, gives a real flavour of rural South India. We have no hesitation in highly recommending the Aparna. We meet many returning guests each year which reinforces our high opinion of the Hotel and it's staff.

What an amazing little hotel run by Charles and his team.
We were lucky enough to have the penthouse apartment with wraparound views of the beaches either side of the Lighthouse. Spacious and well equipped wiith a cooker and fridge, it was great for making the odd light meal. As we were just minutes from Lighthouse Beach we could take advantage of the inexpensive meals on offer.
It was kept immaculately clean with changes of towels, tea towels and linen every day. Drinking water was delivered for us to save carrying it.
No air con, but lots of fans. The free wifi was a bonus.
Charles was happy to arrange transport for us locally and further afield. Kanyakumari was a great day out.
The team was ready to respond to our every need with a very positive attitude.

Myself and four friends enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay at Hotel Aparna. After a weeks stay in Kerala it was the perfect place to finish our travels. The main beach in Kovalam is a little intense but Hotel Aparna is perfect distance away from craziness and the beach to the left of the hotel is perfect for a morning swim! Clean and comfortable, the staff are superb and really helpful! We wanted to buy a couple of beers to have on our balcony for sunset and they said we'd get overcharged down on the main beach, so they rode down to the town and picked some up for us! If I ever make it back to Kovalam, this will be the place I stay!

One of the best places we stayed at during our trip. Offered a huge luxury room at a very good price. We stayed here three nights and didn't look anywhere else. The bathroom was big and the balcony allowed us to dry off our washing and sit and relax at night watching the waves crash against the lighthouse rocks. Power cuts were frequent and lasted long but they provided us with candles, which was a nice touch. They asked daily if we wanted the room cleaned, and although we didn't need it, the thought was nice. The hotel offers a huge selection of books for you to rad during your time at Kovalam. No need to go elsewhere, go here.
