The best accomodation in Kerala we have ever had though it´s difficult to reach. It´s an original well kept house with ajoining Kerala houses and newly built restaurant next to the beach. Philip the English owner takes care of everything you would probably need and Raj is exeptional cook.
The resort has a perfect location directly on the beach about 10 kilometers south of Kovalam. The room I had was okay although it is a little strange to find the bathroom mirror not over the basin but over the toilet bowl. The owner takes great care to do everything in his power to make your stay a memorable one. Meals can be taken at the resort’s restaurant where they serve good Kerala cuisine. The sunset in front of the resort is something to remember for years. Taxis are readily available to take you to any place of interest in the area.
We used Trip Advisor to find this hotel and read only positive reviews and, after our 2 week stay, we can endorse all the good things that everyone else has written! We were there end of Feb and beginning of March and spent half our time in one of the Kerala houses and the other half in one of the upstairs apartments. Both provided everything we needed (except mosquito nets which my husband thought should be provided, but they were hardly necessary; there really are no biting mosquitos!) We enjoyed the food so much, we only strayed out once to Kovalam promenade, and that was disappointing in comparison. We tried just about everything on the menu (except the fish and chips because we were not in India long enough to pine for such things!) So more compliments and thanks to Raj and to Philip of course who took us in his stride as, being somewhat older than the average guests, we were not the easiest to accommodate!…
Tremendous hidden away location with wonderful terraces leading down to the ocean and beach. Meals on the terrace overlooking the local fishermen is memorable but the food produced by Raj the chef exceeded the wonderful food recently tasted in some of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. The hotel thrives on the friendly and personal attention of Philip the owner. If you want total luxury rather than character and the 'local' experience visit the better known hotels elsewhere, but if it's basic comfort, excellent food and value for money this is the place.
