Looks good on arrival, rooms are facilities are good but let down poorly supervised staff who clearly resent being distracted from their 'phones! If taking food, plan on at least a 1.5 hour wait for main course which the two I had arrived luke-warm. Even more irritated when I discovered only two other diners in the house - there were...

Horizon hotel is definitely past its prime - but I was still pleasantly surprised after my Bukavu partners booked me a room there. The PLUSSES: The internet worked very well and the water flowed at all times (except a short moment one evening); the staff were very helpful and selfless throughout the entire stay; the view on the lake is...

Just came back from my stay at the hotel. The hotel has a beautiful view of the lake and is well located, in a quiet area. It is a basic hotel so don't expect luxury. But it is a good basic hotel at a reasonable price. There is free wifi in the rooms, a desk and a mosquito net. Contrary...

Staff are friendly. Rooms are fine. Gardens are nice. Whilst we were there the Internet didn't work and no one knew how to fix it. They didn't call anyone in. Food is fine. Service time average. Water is expensive. At $100 per night this isn't value for money. Hence two only

Hotel Horizon is a nice hotel in Bukavu. The staff are helpful and make an effort to please. Rates are reasonable - good value. Well equipped for business meetings large and small. Pleasant courtyard with lawn and landscaping for outdoor meetings.

OK, first we need some perspective when evaluating hotels in the Eastern Congo, many things like power, water, etc. are outside the control of the hotel or are just too expensive to ensure access 24/7. With that said, one thing that the Hotel can control is the customer service. Everyone was very very nice and helpful. The hotel was reasonably...

If you are well traveled and not too picky, this hotel is fine. If you are expecting hot showers at anytime of day or night, or something more than moderate cleanliness, you should pass on Hotel Horizon. Was surprised to find that water is turned off early in the evening, but a call to the front desk turns it back...

like most of the hotels in Bukavu this one has seen betterdays, it is very worn, and not too clean. definetally cleaning staff is avoiding opening and cleaning fridge. it has got a nice view and a decent food, so you can stay there overnight but would rather go to Coco Lodge for longer stays.

Visiting Bukavu from Goma for the first time turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The boat of Ihusi Express is pretty decent and comfortable. The deck had the 2 chairs that I needed to have a good view of the passing green covered hills. The fare was $50/-. Since the boat was non-stop, it reached the destination in 2...

1. They charge $100.00 a night despite the fact that the water is turned off every evening from sometime between 7:30 and 8 PM and is not restored until between 05:30 and 6 AM the following morning. 2. Lockable cabinets in the hotel are not so secure. 3. Personnel at the reception desk take the phone off the hook at...
