From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and taken care of. Not only is the setting utterly stunning, Glenn, Karen and family made our trip one to remember. Every request and ask was so thoughtfully take care of. The fishing was incredible and each guide excellent; real experts and personable. Our expectations of Alaska and the lodge were exceeded...

The 10 day Stay at the lodge was excellent. The fishing guides knew the answers to all our fishing trips. All the fishing trips were very well planned and very well executed. the Kenai was muddy from rain and was unfishable on the day it was scheduled. But guess what? Glenn got us hooked up on another great: but different:...

A 5-star rating isn't good enough for our fantastic summer vacation at Alaska Hooksetters and fishing with Russell Fishing Co. I sincerely cannot say enough praises for these folks! They ALL worked extremely hard to make everyone's (not just ours) vacations the greatest ever; we were and are totally impressed! Hooksetters lodge/cabins are awesome and Karen, Carmyn and staff catered...

We just got back from a week here and had a great time. When I first started to look for some place to book a fishing trip I had no help so I started to look on the internet. I found two companies and after talking and emailing with both companies I decided to go with Alaska Hooksetters Lodge. I...

Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to go to Alaska to fish! Being from Australia, it is a long way from home, and hoped to make the right decision with my bookings! Let me just say I couldn't have made a better decision!!!! I spent my time with Hooksetters during the 6-12 September 2014. Upon arrival I...

This was a 'Bucket List' item, celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We very much enjoyed the experience even though the weather was 'rainy' most of the time. The time spent telling 'fish stories', etc. with others around the fire in the gazebo, with drinks, soup and snacks, at the end of the day was most enjoyable. Dinners were superb, as...

Only thing they could improve is blackout curtains in cabins. Trip across inlet was the highlight. Ben was a great guide. "Like fishing in a fish hatchery" is what he said. Very true. Great bear and glacier viewing.

We really enjoyed our stay, but we also felt mislead/deceived after what was explained to us about how many the hot meals we would b receiving each day. We were informed there would be a hot buffet breakfast every morning. Well that statement can only be true if U believe that searching & choosing a prior day(s) made item(i.e. Brkft...

Alaska's Hooksetters Lodge is clean and comfortable. It is convenient to the fishing and all of the outdoor activities the Kenai has to offer. It is close to town yet one has the feeling of being away form it all. Gathering around the camp fire for soup and appetizers is a great way to socialize with other guest. Dinners are...

Easily the best staff experience that I have ever had...friendly, knowledgeable, exceptionally accommodating to change-in-plans requests. The equipment provided was highest quality and well maintained. General dining was good, but the pre-meal campfire soups and finger foods were a "don't miss" experience. Access to the Kenai and lower Kasilof fishing waters was simple and convenient. All around, this may be...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An Uncommon Alaska Vacation Lodge with a Unique PhilosophyAlaska Hooksetters is “not your typical Alaska fishing lodge offering your typical Alaska fishing packages at your typical Alaska trip prices.”Why? Because three businessmen joined together a few years ago to create a Kenai Alaska venue and environment that welcomestheir friends and family to a “home away from home” Alaska Vacation on the Kenai Peninsula;fishermen of all ages and skills, and non-fishermen alike….even if they are traveling together; couples looking to truly experience an Alaska Vacation on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula; families on an Alaska Vacation who may not want a full week of non-stop Alaska fishing charters;companies looking for a great Alaska retreat, event or incentive. Our philosophy and perspective is different. Alaska Hooksetters Lodge wants to build memories. Surely a 70lb king salmon, a 300lb halibut or a 10lb rainbow will do that. But so will sharing stories around a covered fire pit or walking the gray soft sand beach near the mouth of the mighty Kenai River. What could be more memorable than a hike along a river or through a lush landscape taking photos of the wildlife; a grizzly bear and her cubs, a moose and her newborn calves, or an eagle soaring above the trees. As the years pass us by, the fondest recollections of your Alaska vacation may be the solitude of your surroundings, the call of the loon, the magnificent and breathtaking mountains where they rise from Cook Inlet, or the fabulous Midnight Sun. ... more   less
