On this trip I book rooms with two beds though I am a single guest the rooms are often larger. This is one of the hotels that checked me into a room with one bed, I didn't say anything. The hotel is a seasonal summer residence and about 100 years old. There are no elevators so stairs are access to...

This is a heritage hotel converted from officers's quarters in Fort Seward. However, while clean and comfortable, it needs serious sprucing up and a few service tweaks to improve guests' experience. First, the good stuff: pleasant service and spotless, though a little musty smelling rooms (it is very old, granted). Beds were very comfortable, but unadorned (i.e. Harvard frames, no...

If you're easily winded, the Halsingland may not be for you - it has no elevator, and is situated on some hilly real estate - but if you're looking for a classic hotel in the style of the 1930s, look no further. From the claw-footed bathtubs to the richly textured bar, to the splendid views of southeast Alaska's Inside Passage...

The rooms and the outside of the building certainly need money spent on them however it's clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The best thing is the restaurant...super food and beautiful wine. Lovely position.

We stayed here because it was recommended by our guide company, but I can't say I would recommend it. The location is good - quiet and near some good restaurants, but our room was large but very bare bones, albeit relatively comfortable, with lots of chipped paint, paint flakes on the worn carpet, and a sink whose condition had me...

Step back in time to this Historic Hotel set in a military post. Staff are laid back, locals walk in asking " where's Jeff" he's in and out all day. Strangers meet in the lobby and easily strike up a conversation working on a puzzle that you will never see completed. Shuttle service is a nice plus, we came in...

The Halsingland has good food, a great bar and wonderfully warm friendly staff and patrons. The hotel is old with lots of feeling. Rooms are spacious and clean. There's always a jigsaw puzzle going in the lobby and lots of information freely and generously available from the staff at the front desk. Locals come here to eat and drink so...

Stopped at Haines over night to hit the ferry the next day. This hotel was clean, old, and kinda cool. The hole area is pretty neat as it was an old military camp to keep those rascally Canadians out of Alaska. I would check it out if you're passing through.

We stayed here late Sept. The hotel was now in off season and the dining room closed but we were made most welcome and we loved it. Our suite was most comfortable, our dog was welcome and the location was great. We all loved this old hotel!

The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. We had a water view and it was very quiet. We had dinner in the bar restaurant which was very good. It appears to be the meeting place for everyone.
