First, it wasn't a cove as I would define a cove. Just a long white sand beach in each direction. The staff was friendly and helpful. The huts on the beach are about the size of a cruise ship cabin, up on stilts, with a minimalist kitchen thrown in. Tight to say the least. The kitchen was sparingly equipped, 2 of everything, 2 forks, 2 plates, 2 knives, etc. One pot, one pan. Cooking was a challenge. Guess that is part of the adventure of going to far away places.
The reef is about ¾ mile out off the deck of the hut. Watching and listening to the roar of the pounding surf was very relaxing.
The 2nd evening, when we went to take a shower there was no hot water. Burrr. We were on the edge of a cyclone, the wind was so strong it kept blowing out the the flame in the tankless water heater.
We rented a car directly from Paradise Cove. They also had scooters for hire. This was great no pages of paper work. No hassle of the pickup and return.
Breakfast was included, delivered to your door each morning, fresh picked fruit, tree ripened straight to your plate. So good.
The grounds were well maintained. Each morning someone was out raking leaves and debris from the day before.
Grocery shopping was a challenge with only one big store that didn't have a good selection. Minimal vegetables and no fruit. Took a couple days, we found a few stores in the outback that had stuff we couldn't find at the big store. Aitutaki is a small island with everything located on the western side, eastern side was the picturesque lagoon side, with hardly anything along that side.

The beach is gorgeous and the photos make this resort look extremely inviting. Inside, the beach-front rooms on stilts are rather small, not much room for anything apart from the bed and a small well-stocked Kitchenette. The bathroom was fine apart from a smell of drains which was rather off-putting. Plenty of hot water. It could all do with a bit of a refurb to do the position
justice. To be fair our visit coincided with a huge storm so we had to spend more time in the room that normal. When the sun shines none of this matters that much. On the plus side the staff is charming and helpful, daily fruit and breakfasts great, delivered to the door, and scooters, bikes and a car all available onsite to rent. Plus a nice new gift shop just opened. If you have the money I would perhaps go a bit more upmarket but if you’re on a budget this is a good place to stay tho’ far from restaurants without transport (their cafe/bar is closed contrary to Lonely Planet listing info).

My host kindly met me from the airport upon arrival in Aitutaki, which was only a 5-minute drive from the airport. The reception area is nothing to talk about, check-in was easy, and my bags were taken to my lodge, which was nice and clean, just set back from the beach front. No air con though there was a ceiling fan. The one negative for my visit was though the location was meant to be a Vodafone wifi hotspot, I just could not get logged on using either my phone or laptop, resulting in driving around the corner to anogther Vodafone hotspot.

Great accommodation for the budget traveler, the beach is great for swimming and if you walk to the end of the beach the snorkeling is fantastic! Right across the road is a walk to the lookout, there is a takeaway place next door which was great to get takeaways and watch the spectacular sunset! You can hire scooters which was so handy for zipping around and exploring! The staff were so lovely and helpful told us where to eat and offered to help us book lagoon tours they will pick you up and drop you off to the airport all in all a great place to stay location was fantastic and rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was toast and spreads cereal and fruits and alot of it I loved how they dropped it to your room and you could have it when you liked. Bring bug spray because as to be expected there are bugs. Fabulous time was had here!!

We stayed at Paradise Cove for 3 nights which we booked through a local agent.
We were grateful for the complimentary pickup from the airport.
The bungalows are on a beautiful sandy beach, swimming was good but not snorkeling.
The free breakfast was amazing we couldn't eat it all.
The bungalows are run down, we booked two bungalows and air con not working in one, fan only worked on one speed. We had a hole in the wall of ours where an old air con unit had been removed and not plugged up, unfortunately we had cockroaches and lizards getting into to our room. We found that if we left the bathroom light going all the time it kept the roaches away.
Shower wouldn't turn off properly
The bar and restaurant did not open during our stay, we heard from other guests it only opens on a Saturday.
The cleaning staff and gardener were very friendly and i think the cleaning staff do an amazing job with what they have to deal with.
We did not raise any of the issues with the receptionist as we could see no point. We didn't realize when we booked that there is no on-site manager just an after hours number.
We realize this is a budget accommodation, but the accommodation should be maintained, safe and fit for purpose.

We loved our stay at Paradise Cove! The staff were so lovely, always up for a chat and there to help us when we needed it. We caught some high winds during our stay and wanted to extend our trip. The staff helped to book us in again last minute, thanks again!

Our bungalow was so clean, refreshed often and dotted with flowers which was so nice to arrive to. The rooms are simple, but had everything we needed, even coils and repellant which was a bonus! Breakfast was good, and having it delivered meant we could slump out of bed at whatever time the next day and enjoy it on the deck. Beach was always very tidy and the deep water before the coral was perfect for floating around in. I can't even describe how good the spot and views were, just go see it for yourselves!

Thank you Moana and all the staff for your hospiltality!

Things to note:

- Hire a bike/car before you arrive and ask if they are able to drop it at Paradise Cove for you. Instant freedom.

- Eat at Odeez, basically next door along the beach and so tasty.

- Stay on a Saturday so you can experience the awesome little bar at Paradise Cove!

I emailed Paradise Cove on 11 March, that they had charged my credit card on 05 March, without my authority . I had made the reservation thru Booking.com and the booking terms was that the full payment was due on 22 APR.
Paradise Cove advised they accidentally charged my card for the full stay of 3nts. Kept chasing them via emails and they advised that they were sorry and "we have till the 23rd March for us to return the full funds."
After this, I since cancelled my booking.

It is now 26 March, some 21 days after Paradise Cove without my authority charged my card. I still have no refund back ! I have not received a response from my recent emails.

Disgusting and filthy
Photos on website OLD AND FAKE
Tired and run down
Should be demolished
Person in office only there 3 hrs a day. She is extremely rude and not at all helpful

Fridge did not work, freezer?...
Filthy bed, pillowslip with mold and pillows moldy
Blanket shook out and all this "skin" flakes
Slept on bed on my own beach towel 2nd night as bite marks on my back
Slept with a dress wrapped around my pillow so would not inhale mold
Cleaning.??? Nope .. had to ask 4 days later
Toilet seat fell off
No toiler paper no shampoos
Absolutely filthy "living" conditions
Unsafe premises
Had to wear thongs in shower
Broken tiles
No desk, no safe
No hair dryer
No iron
Breakfast for one, not two ..fed to choose
Rust on walls
Air con dripping, not fixed/attached properly
Towels .. would not wash a dog with these

Plus: the beach BUT no seating for each .. fake photos

Place needs to be demolished
Every single person made complaints
Just not acceptable at $A170 per night

Should have read Reviews before booking.

Beware and steer clear. Even the locals disgusted at our conditions with 2 local people who viewed. We were number 2.

We were picked up at the airport with a nice greeting by the Lodge's desk clerk. On the way we stopped at a store to buy some items to eat. The cooking facilities were sparce but adequate for the amount of cooking we planned which was very little. the refrigerator was small. The room was small but adequate. The facility was old and sowed lots of use but acceptable for a beach type location. The view from the deck was great. Sunset was very nice. The bed was ok. There was a breakfast each morning brought by a nice girl. The breakfast was of some fruit and dry cereal. We stayed 4 days and the desk clerk took us to the airport. There is food service about a block away with covered outside seating and they sell beer. We enjoyed out time there. They worked quietly on some repairing things, and they cleaned the beach in the mornings. I thing the price is ok considering the law of supply and demand so comparisons outside Aitutaki would be irrelevant. The restaurant at the Lodge was only open 2 days a week. We did not eat there. I do not understand why the restaurant had such a schedule as I found it strange, but did not ask. I suppose if you can make in by being open 2 days a week, why not? The Lodge did accept credit cards and their wi fi worked well enough. The desk clerk arranged a rental car for us and for the rental car person to pick it up as we were gone when the car was to be picked up by the rental company. The air conditioner was exceptional as the humidity was always vey high outside but it kept the room very nice and cool.

My overall experience here wasn’t good. The receptionist was unfriendly and we didn’t feel welcome. I say this, in comparison to our accommodation on Rarotonga, which was the exact opposite.

Apart from the beautiful location, the accommodation was testing: The very old fridge leaked onto the cracked tile floor. When I spoke with the receptionist, she suggested I try turning it down. I asked her if she would look at the problem and fix it. The air conditioner didn’t work. The toaster was broken. The shower taps wouldn’t turn off. The toilet cistern ran the who time.

Food and beverages were available for one night out of three. The food was good and the bar staff pleasant.

Compared to two other lots of accommodation on Rarotonga, I found this was not good value for money and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

I guess it depends on your expectations. We stayed here twice and loved the quietness and the simplicity of the place. Also having a water hole you can swim in all day is great. Breakfast is pretty basic but typical of budget island food. We did not eat at the cafe on the beach - the menu did not appeal and the hygiene is basic - but there are lots of other places close by (check out the fish and chips next door). Cleanliness was fine - but bear in mind this is a very small island and you are effectively sleeping on the beach - sand is going to get everywhere no matter how hard you try to clean it and this is not aimed at four star hotel type service. The staff are friendly and you can relax easily and switch off to the rush of the rest of the world. This is Aitutaki at its simplest - not a chain resort with international standards to uphold. We would go again quite happily.
