We expected remote, small town, rustic. We didn't expect great service, friendly staff, Cordon Bleu Chef for dinners, and an aurora watcher to wake us whenever there was some action in the dark night sky! Don't miss the dogsled ride--the two hour one at 4:30 p.m. The silence is deafening, the scenery amazing, and the history of the area makes...

So much to say where to start! Bettles Lodge was exactly what we were looking for. Warm (literally because we visited in February) friendly and comfortable. Commuter flight in to -20 degrees, a quick settle in the lodge and then off on a short informative driving tour of the area and life in the artic. We stayed 2 nights in...

After extensive research for Aurora Borealis viewing, we selected Bettles Lodge for our family vacation (children ages 9-17) and we were not disappointed. A true arctic adventure in the best sense: dog-sledding, snow-machining, and cross country skiing during the day served as wonderful counterpoints to the spectacular and breath-taking aurora displays. Eric, Heather, and their staff rolled out the welcome...

The Bettles Lodge is a Five Star Experience. Don't expect a Ritz Carlton but know that you will find real hospitality, first-hand nature, and a taste of unspoiled Alaska. I went for four nights and would have enjoyed being there longer. This is a superb place to stay if you want to experience off-the-road Arctic Alaska. You may or may...

We spent three nights at Bettles Lodge experiencing life in a remote Alaska community. The owners of the lodge, Eric and Heather, were really friendly and their hospitality was refreshing. They treated us like honored guests in their home. Eric was a wealth of information and was always available to answer questions and make recommendations. Their photographer, igloo builder, aurora...

We just came home after an amazing week in Alaska(2/4-2/13/16). Several days were spent at Bettles Lodge. It was a trip of a lifetime for myself and my husband. The owners, Eric and Heather, were so informative and welcoming. The staff, Lisa, Jan, and Chris, were so thoughtful and accommodating. Chris was the chef and made delicious entrees for us...

If you’re an adventure seeker, Bettles Lodge is a destination for you. There are a wide range of activities all year round, but I planned my trip for January. I was hoping for Northern Lights and I got them (wow). Like fishing, there are no guarantees, so set your expectations accordingly. Although the lights are a big prize, there are...

The owners of Bettles Lodge, Heather and Eric, saw to it that our three-day stay in the Arctic was an absolutely positive experience. We went, of course, to see the lights, and that was a truly remarkable experience. But thanks to the staff at the lodge, our trip involved so much more. The food was plentiful and terrific, and we...
