The overall feeling Mi Casa left us with is good. My wife even saw a turtle walking in the garden! Pros are: No mosquitoes, clean beds, staff, was safe and all. Cons: the atmosphere was average. Great place to stay overnight when going other places in Costa Rica or if you are looking for a quiet haven.

A beautiful stay in this hostel! We spent a couple of day. It's a good site if you want to visit the capital or if you go for businness. Just 20min walking from the city centre. It's clean, nice and in a quite and secure area. The breakfast is included.

The house is beautiful with a nice garden, open kitchen and the hostel is conveniently located next to the Sabana Park which is a great plus in the otherwise noisy city. We had no reservation so just walked in and asked for a double room with shared bathroom; this room was a 6 ned dorm with bunbeds that we could...

We only stayed here one night in transit between two places. The rooms were fantastic with comfortable beds and a hot shower! However, I gave this hostel three out of five because I believe the man at the front desk tried to rip us off. I had already paid on Paypal for the room, but had forgotten I had done...

We stayed at this hostel for one night and it was alright. The rooms are clean and quiet, the breakfast was OK (two pancakes with coffee) but most importantly the location is excellent. It's about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop which is great if you're taking the bus from the airport (about 1USD per person) instead of...

Great location away from the main road, but very close to downtown. Sabana park 3 blocks away. Very quiet. Nothing super luxury, but peaceful and quiet. Middle courtyard is great and lets you forget that you're in the middle of San Jose. Community fridge and kitchen. Rooms are small but the main area is nice and easier to hang out...

Overall for what I needed the days I was in San Jose it was OK. If you are searching for nice atmosphere and a little more luxury I would recommend it, for 1 or 2 days is OK Good: - close to the sabana park - large common areas - kitchen to use - helped me out with all questions...

Pros: Low price, hot water, friendly staff, hanging out in the inner courtyard/garden, free wifi, convenient location (to Sabana Park, downtown, bus lines) Cons: Poor mattresses/sheets/pillows, community kitchen on the scuzzy side, large hostel so communal fridge is risky (expect your stuff may be jacked) All in all, you get what you pay for and the price is really great...

Mi Casa Hostel is terrific; convenient to downtown, in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to several restaurants, delightful staff who are extremely helpful, very clean rooms, coffee and pancake breakfast included (save a bit for the 4 resident small turtles that will greet you at the breakfast table), internet access. About a buck or two for a bus to/from the...
